Best stylist around for short cuts!. Julie E. is the best stylist around for fun short cuts! So hard to find someone who can cut short hair well. I have been going to Julie for years...just saw her at her new space at Mr. Pinkwhistle. Love the vibe, design, and music. And, as usual, I left with an awesome short cut that looks great without any fuss. Julie is an excellent stylist, always spot on when helping me decide styles that work with my hair type (fine and flat). She is also a lovely person...what a treat - very fun and caring...a joy to work with! Thank you!

wow - amazing, interesting haircut & fantastic color. LOVE MY HAIR! I received the most technical, detailed cut I've ever experienced from Simon. I waited a few weeks before writing my review to see if I could style it and how it would grow out. It's easy to fix, and it's grown out really well. While this was one of the most expensive haircuts I've recieved (I think Frederic Fekkai in NYC was more!) it was also unlike any other cut that I've had in the Bay Area. There are a lot of good stylists in SF but Simon is really on another level. I really liked my color from Stephanie too; I've been having some platinum issues with my blonde highlights and she corrected it! The salon itself is one of the coolest too - you feel like you are in an art gallery. Easy parking across the street. If you are bored with your hair, go to Simon and Stephanie and walk out a new person! Worth every penny (also I should mention that I've talked to many friends and was surprised that a lot of them pay as much as I paid-and their hair isn't even knock your socks off- ...so I guess it's not that expensive...I've just graduated to the big leagues!).

Best color I've received. I was pulled in as a hair model for a color by an outgoing girl named Katie. At first I was reluctant,

but it was the best coloring job I've ever had. She gave me the MOST GORGEOUS shade of red with

subtle gold highlights. I've never been so pleased with my haircolor!!! For the first time in my life, people

stop me to tell me what a beautiful shade it is!!! I will no longer go to anyone else. The salon is quite

chic, the people that work there seem very knowledgeable and friendly. A great experience....

Who would spend $160.00 on a haircut? Lasting Impression.. Who would spend $160.00 on a haircut?

Most people would not or could not. A select few could and would, if they knew what they paid for. If they knew that their cuts were uniquely created by someone that has been perfecting his craft for the last twenty years. If they knew that his philosophy is to be the best in the world at what he does. If they knew that only the best knowledge, the finest products and experience were just for them. If they knew that it takes sometimes three hours for this skilful artist to just create one haircut, since every detail is tended to.

Now you know.

For an experience unlike any other try Simon Marc at Mr. Pinkwhistle. He is a true artist.

Simon is Genius. I have been told I am picky and hard to please. Upon the the continuous push from all my friends to try Simon for the last year, I gave in. Well, sord of, they got me a gift certicate to see him for my Birthday. They even booked the appt so I had no choice. The salon was more amazing than they had described, full of Japanese cabinets and beautiful art graced the walls. Simon spent about ten minutes talking to me about what I wanted to do and what I was willing to do, quite two different things. At the end, I was convinced to leave it in his hands. What I ended up with is truly genius. As a woman in her earlie forties, when I was done, I felt like ten pounds had been removed from my head and twenty years lifted from my face. The haircut completely changed my profile and more importantly, the way I saw myself for the very first time. I was thrilled, but no one was more excited than my husband. After seeing my hair, he took it upon himself to make an appointment ! Its amazing what a haircut can do! I highly recommend it and I hope you don't wait a year like I did.

Best money I ever spent on a haircut!. A recent transplant from New York, my main fear was being able to find someone in SF to cut my hair the way I am used too. I have been going to a high end in Manhattan and dreaded having to start over. After a couple of trips back to NY just to get my hair cut, I decided that it was unrealistic. I discovered Simon by stumbling onto an article about his salon in the NY Times while on a flight. I booked an appt back in August and was so overjoyed with the result. Not only is his work beautiful, but so is the salon. Simon is a perfectionist, so the haircut can take a while but I guarantee that his level of excellence is worth the patience. Now when my girlfriends come to visit, I call ahead to book them an appt so they can experience something that is truly unique. I highly recommend him if you are someone that is looking for something that is

genuinely special and creative.

Mr. PinkWhistle Primadonna's. Romy is outstanding, the colorists are outstanding and the decor is outstanding...however the hair stylists are anything but outstanding. Their cuts are extreme, a few shine through as interesting, but the majority are odd including the one I received. I have had haircuts around the world, and this salon lies at the very bottom. I've never seen a salon that rated even less than average besides this one. Mr. Pinkwhistle charges a whopping $130 for a haircut that takes 1.5-2 hours, the primadonna haircutters, or "artists" as they'd probably like to be termed (yeah right), also refuse to talk during their cuts so they can devote their total concentration to the haircut. What the @#$% - how about that they just don't have personalities that can carry on a conversation? Come on! Aside from being non-social wierd primadonna's that keep to themselves and are not at all welcoming or friendly with patrons (including the owner!), they have totally lost sight of who their client is - they think its themselves and that for $130 haircut we should be clamoring at their door for this type of service and cut! Best of luck Pinkwhistle. My advice customers, go to a better salon like Aveda or the like where they relate to their clients well and provide true premier services.

Hair DISASTER. My first experience with Simon a year ago was a good one, therefore I went back thinking I would be just as pleased. Instead I walked out of his salon after three hours with a short mullet and had to pay $500 to have extensions put in. I felt almost cornered into trying something new, and Simon did not listen to any of my needs. He also cut all of the baby hairs along my forehead, and now they are sticking straight out. I've had 2 stylists look at my hair, and neither one can make any sense of the haircut, weird uneven lenghts, choppy all over, almost like having 2 different hairstyles. The absolute WORST hair experience I have ever had and will NEVER trust Simon to touch my hair again.

This outpost for sleek, creative cuts appeals to design-oriented professionals with its highly trained staff and distinctly artsy atmosphere.. In Short
Surrounded by the museum-quality art and sculptures that adorn the gallery-like interiors of this downtown space, five stylists and three colorists deliver sophisticated cuts imbued with edgy modern style. Stainless steel, floor-to-ceiling mirrors, vintage lamps and slick black floors compliment this bustling establishment's high-style vibe. A back lofted area functions as the color room. The salon works exclusively with hair and offers tints, all-over color, highlights, relaxers and perms.
