This intimate restaurant offers a relaxed yet polished atmosphere for approachable Japanese cuisine. Casually dressed diners start with small plates like tempura-battered vegetables and miso-glazed sea bass before digging into a variety of larger combination dishes, such as salmon teriyaki with tempura veggies and a house salad with sushi or sashimi. Specialty rolls include the African Spider with Cajun-flavored albacore, salmon, soft-shell crab, tobiko, sprouts, unagi and avocado.

Favorite Sushi in the city

Excellent option for everyone. A little out of the way but well worth it. Love the tuna options. Great edamame and wasabi and sushi and cucumbers and everything.

the sushi here is probably one of the best in SF for this price. Great atmosphere but it's in a very small place. Definitely worth checking out!

bigger ..not better

Not sure what the buzz is about. I am a food professional and eat in amazing sushi spots across the US and beyond (Tsukiji market is fish heaven) Sushi Bistro is comfortable and likeable but the fish was not. HUGE portions of poor quality sashimi is not what good sushi should be. The tuna was dyed. The rolls on the menu read well but the execution was not there...soggy and not balanced. Too bad because we wanted to really like SB. Prices are good and the service was friendly but that does not matter if the fish is not good....there is so much better bait in SF.
