A great destination for ingestion. I liked going there even before it burned down but it has reemerged as an even better version. What's not to like? The building is sweet, the atmosphere is comfortable, chill and energetic, the staff, rocks, the drinks are affordable with loads of specials, and there's frequent live entertainment. I should also mention that the food is yum and diverse. They also offer sushi on Mondays. Take yourself and your posse to San Van Ness' shining gem of good times.
Citysearch Editorial Review. After being gutted by a fire a few years back, Bender's rose from the ashes like a glorious phoenix covered in tattoos, blasting heavy metal and drinking heavily even on weekdays. From the bar, where during happy hour you can get a shot and beer for $5, to the mini-kitchen, which serves tasty drunk food (with vegan options) the smoker's patio out back, Bender's is everything you can really ask from a bar. The prevailing crowd is definitely one of bike messengers and Mission flannel champions, but you'll also find plenty of v-necks and collared shirts here shooting pool and the breeze just about every night of the week.
Bender's, We Miss Thee Already. A fire on June 10, 2006 gutted our beloved neighborhood bar. Luckily nobody was hurt physically, but the emotional toll is severe. Best of luck to Johnny and the rest of the crew. And like the proverbial phoenix, we hope Bender's quickly rises up from the ashes and is back in business soon.
Benders the name sez it all !. Johnny's joint is always a fun scene, and a new Thai kitchen is open ... yay!
Great Place. Great drinks (their bartender Johnny won bartender of the year). Their london broil sandwich is phenomenal as is the Mac n Cheese. Also, the burger is one of the best in the City.
This spacious Mission spot serves up a barroom blitz of guitar licks, burgers and brew..
With tattoo-inspired artwork, random rock and punk band stickers, and general revelry in its dive-bar status, there's no mistaking this place for anything but what it is. Bartenders pour mostly Pabst and whiskey to a soundtrack by Iron Maiden and Motorhead to crowd happy with pool table, pinball and visits from the tamale lady. For those who aren't, or want to skip the wait for a table at nearby neighborhood hotspot Weird Fish, said restaurant has set up a satellite kitchen at Bender's, where you can get dive bar-friendly favorites like fish tacos, fried pickles and vegan buffalo wings.
