Don't bother. If I could, I would give this place ZERO stars!!!! I implore all people of conscience or just conscious people to boycott this dump. I received such RACIST and reprehensible treatment here that I don’t want anyone to spend another dime at this dump.

I had arrived at Vertigo to party with the people and about an hour later needed to use the restroom. Since the place has just two restrooms, I, like others, waited in line. For me, that was about a 15-20 minute wait before I could relieve myself. Once inside the restroom, a very drunk woman started banging loudly on the door and cussing for me to get out even though I had barely begun to pee. She was very violent and started shouting “get the &^%$#@! Out”. Suddenly, a female bartender just opened the bathroom door on me……no knock on the door….no inquiry as to whether everything was alright before entering….NOTHING! Lucky for me, I was able to pull up my pants in enough time to avoid my hooha from being all over “you tube” since everyone outside the restroom was now looking in.

I obviously objected and the bartender started reprimanding me for being in the bathroom. By contrast, no reprimanding was thrown at the drunk blond chick who was banging on the door. As the only Black woman in eyesight, the bartender continued yelling at me to get out of the bathroom and had begun to try and grab me. When I told her not to touch me, she informed me I was being a problem and she was completely justified to be treating me badly. The final prize that me (and my friend….that’s right the only other Black woman in the bar) got for having the audacity to pee in Vertigo’s restroom while a drunk White woman wanted to use it was we were thrown out!!!

STAY AWAY FROM VERTIGO!!! They deserve no one’s patronage.

Great deals, but gets packed too!. This bar is cool since it's right down the street from where I stay. They have a smoking lounge (says it's a patio, but actually indoors, which is nice) for smokers like me... They have a great happy hour, and 4 for $10 Jello Shots 24/7! Can't beat that! There's also dancing with a pretty big floor (for this part of town) but it gets packed on the weekends. The bartenders serve quickly and with lots of friendliness, despite large crowds. If you can squeeze your way to the counter, you'll get served quickly.

Pros: Great deals on drinks all the time, smoking lounge, dancing, diverse crowd

Cons: Gets super packed (and I mean PACKED!) on weekends during peak bar hours, doesn't take ATM/Credit cards for tabs (but there is an ATM inside for withdrawls :-)

Excellent Dance Bar. As a local who loves Vertigo, I know exactly who the dude is who goes by the screen name "Tribaldelic" is. This is the sort of local color that you run past quickly in order to enter a club on Polk Street. God bless the owners of Vertigo, for taking what was a run down, tired bar, and turning it into a cool, hip dance bar. I love this bar, and it's owners and always enjoy the atmosphere they provide. I only wish that people like Tribeldelic would learn that begging for change to buy his "groove on" on Polk Street is no longer cool. Get a lesson from Brittney...it's not working for both of you.
