Horrible delivery service - not worth the wait or the trouble. The food is decent, but the service makes me never want to order from here again. Our first bad time with delivery was when we ordered at 5:30 pm, were told that the food would be here in 45 min - then we called at 6:30 when it wasn't here. They had no record of our order, and didn't seem to care. As I was on the phone with the manager, the delivery guy called me to say he couldn't find our house - even though I was on the other line with the manager telling me that we didn't order anything from there! The second bad experience was last night, when we decided to order online, since we've had separate problems with our order getting lost in translation over the phone. We placed the online order at 6:23, got a confirmation phone call back (as is their policy) telling us we'd have a 45 min wait. Then, when our food wasn't here at 7:50 we called, and were told that the delivery guy had left a half hour before - so apparently our food was already in the car for a half hour, and it hadn't arrived yet (we live about 6 blocks from the restaurant). We asked to have the manager call us back, to find out why we are continually told that it's a 45 min wait when it is always longer.

Of course, no phone call - so our only recourse it to never bother ordering from here again, since no pizza is worth this aggravation.

Best pizza in San Mateo, but service is slow.. Coming from New York, I know what good pizza is like. North Beach Pizza has not let me down. It is some of the best pizza I've had on the west coast ever. The restaurant is often busy so be prepared to wait and the servers are usually understaffed. Also be prepared to wait about a half hour to make the pizza. In other words, don't go there hungry or you will get unpatient. Otherwise, a great place to go with friend and have a drink and some great pizza. Non pizza food looks good too, but have never tried it.

SERVICE is HORRIBLE!. Service is horrible!!! First, we had to wait 20 minutes to be seated, then we had to wait an 1.5 hour on our order, claiming they lost our ORDER!!! How do you loose anything in a tiny restaurant? When we wanted to speak to a manager, they didn't even apologize for their poor service, they just said, we'll give you give you free bread sticks and your order should be coming up. While the discussion is going on, their RUDE HOSTESS was in the back laughing and hissing at us. I definitely don't think their pizza is good enough for the kind of "don't care about your customer" attitude. They should be greatful for the patrons they do receive. If you want GOOD SERVICE AND GOOD FOOD, I do not recommend this place.

Great Pizza. If you want pizza fast then go to your local grocery store and buy a 3 minute microwavable. Not sure why the other reviewers would go out and expect a pizza faster than 20 minutes. The pizzas are handmade and they cook them onsite, definitely worth the wait. The restaurant in San Mateo is always crowded and hectic on Friday and Saturday. This location also has pickup and delivery so its not close to being the best eat in restaurant. You eat 2 slices and you're full, try it out.

Not worth the wait. After seeing the line stretching out the door, we thought this place deserved a chance. Boy were we wrong. After a 25 minute wait to be seated, we ordered a pepperoni pizza. About 20 minutes later, we asked how it was coming along, only to be told that they had misplaced our order and that it would take another 20 minutes. Ok, we thought, no big deal. Then the pizza arrived. It was thick, bready, undercooked, with bland undercooked slices of pepperoni _underneath_ a thick layer of gummy tasteless cheese. We managed to down a couple of slices each, just because we were starving, and decided then and there that that was the last time we'd visit North Beach Pizza in San Mateo. Even Mountain Mike's is far better, not to mention Amici's brick oven pizza, which is in another league.

worst pizza EVER!!!. i don't know how they keep winning awards but the pizza there SUCKS and its EXPENSIVE. The cheese is greasy, rubbery, and always tastes a bit "funny" like i can't describe....that last bit when i chew and swallow...blah. I have gave it SEVERAL chances due to people houding me when i say it sucks. I live less than a mile from there and have had them deliver about 3 times....all three time they got lost and delivered the pie late...so i think its the delivery and the cooling down of the pie that leads to a bad taste...dine in several times and still the same...blah. Pizza HUT!!! they deliver on time to me ALL the time and always tastes the same and FAR cheaper. Even at the rest i have to wait for bad food in a loud rest. Never again
