Great Atmosphere-Bad Management.
I went to Fluid Bar& Lounge last Saturday night with a group of friends as the DD. I wasn't aware of the guest list. When I arrived my friends informed me that if I had gone online I could have gotten in for free before 11. I asked a doorman/bouncer for clarification. I informed him that I was the only one in my group who didn't know about the list and was also DD. He said I would have to pay. I was a little bummed, but understood the policy. The bouncer was very rude in response, "Well we need to make money, don't we." I then sucked it up and got a $20 bill ready. The man collecting IDs told me I didn't have to pay, because I was DD and the only one in my group not on the list. When I started walking in the club, the woman checking IDs looked me up and down. I was then stopped in the club by a different doorman and told to pay. At this point I wanted to leave the club. I would have paid up-front in the first place. I feel that being looked up and down and inconsistent messages from the doormen was unnecessary and a horrible way to treat patrons. I was happy I was DD and not purchasing drinks. I will never give more of my money to a club that treats their patrons this way.
My friends and I ended up enjoying the music and the overall atmosphere. My friends paid my cover and were apologetic about the doormen and bouncers (ironically it's the bouncers and doormen that should have been apologetic). They say, "That's no way to treat our DD." I say, there are plenty of clubs with great atmosphere and music who treat their patrons with consistent policies and in a respectful manner. I'll go to those other clubs.
BAD DJ. Went with a group of friends to Fluid last Saturday night. It was a total waste. It has the potential to be a cool club. The lit floor could be inspirational if not for the completely worthless DJ. He had no ability to mix, just slammed random songs together and didn't even attempt to stick to a BPM or genre for two or three songs in a row. The place was packed shoulder to shoulder with short, fat, ugly people. Sorry, I'm being completely honest here. I wasn't even looking to score, since I was there with my boyfriend. But the human decor was so distracting I have to mention it for your sake, Mr/Ms. reader. I will never go back unless it gets a write-up in a mag/newspaper I trust, touting its complete overhaul and new management.
AVOID FLUID waste of money.
I attended the NYE 08 party at the Carnelian room put on by Fluid Ultra Lounge. This was the absolute worst event that anyone has ever seen. It was overbooked, disorganized and absolutely not worth the money.
When I got to the event I was pointed to a huge line supposedly to get tickets, after scoping it out i realized that everyone was cutting the line in front....trying to get their tickets, and NONE of the guards did anything to stop it. I almost spent the new years standing in line. IT was an absolute disaster. I have never seen such a lack of organizational skills.
And I paid $ 215 for this TERRIBLE event.
These people cannot do anything, they hired incompetent bar staff who coudnt even open bottles.
Everyone was extremely upset at the end of the evening, most people didnt get to use their drink tickets because the lines were miles long. For the price that everyone paid, it is a complete joke, I would not even pay one dollar for any other Fluid parties.
Take my advice everyone and stay away from anything that place puts together!!!!
This club is horrible!. The worst club I've ever been to. My first review was not decent enough...so I've been forced to re-write. In the name of all that's good...avoid this club. Take my word for it, there are so many better options in the city.
Bouncers are so rude!. I have gone to Fluid a few times and have never encountered the hostility from his past Saturday. I'm not sure if mangement has changed or what's going on. My friends had got a VIP table for a birthday party and spent atleast $1,500 if not more. At the end of the night I had my drink wrestled out of my hand by some new bouncer. He didn't identify himself or ask me to put my drink down, he just literally came up to me and snatched it out of my hand. I politely asked to speak to a manager and then this other bouncer came up (probably not a manager) and I explained to him what had happened, he just looked at me and said "I can't do anything about that". I have gone to many places in SF, and in the Bay Area and around the country and I have never been treated so rudely! I will never go back and will advise anyone who wants to be treated with some sort of respect to check out another club or lounge in San Francisco.
best lemon drops ever!!!. 2 things to remember when at fluid... get a vip table in the private room, it's well worth the money, especially when it gets crowded and find bartender Dane and ask him for his yummy, yummy pink lemon drop---they are to die for! *drool*
save your time go to another club..
On a Saturday night we got a table, bought over the phone.
We ot there and we find that we do not have one.
We speak to a paris wannabe lookalike, hence she did not have the money to get a good breast job so I assume she settle for the one her $10.00 an hour job could afford. she had this little jacket thingy on no bra and it was fine but they looked rock hard and you could see the nasty scares.
Well she tried to sell us another for $300.00 for 7 people. She even said we get a good bottle of alcohol. oooohhhhh
Well we did a head count and we were going to prchase another table and deal with the bill later but we found we had 9 people with us. We spoke to Paris again and she stated it will be $350.00. Mind you cover was $20 and almost everyone was on the guest list. So for another $50.00 we could get in another person. Please she is really stupid for this.
Well we decided to go in, not getting a table and we found that the short fat bald bouncer was rude! He overlooked us about 10 times until he actually let us in.
As I was watching he was not letting people in for wrong shoes or because someone had a passport but he did let in the 17yr old girl in becasue her outfit was skimpy along with her friends, I knew she was underage becasue 2 of them were my 16 and 17yr old cousins.
This place needs to either close or get rid of their current big headed employees. Please bouncers and paris wannabe's make only $10.00 so I do not see why they have their big heads.
Oh and the bar tenders theyy have no sense of who is next. The drinks are way to strong. lower the prices add a little more juice and less alcohol!!!
The dance floor, what dance floor?
I will never go again....
On top of that my card got charged for the table we bought over the phone, but mysteriously did not get. Oh I did get my money back and gave an earfull to the person on the phone.
So So. average place. Well place is small. Music is good. Guys are I guess mostly Indians so if you are in Indian guys you will feel right at home. Security was nice with me but pushy with my boyfriend. Drinks seems to be expensive. well you got the scoop i guess.
Mirko is awesome at the door of Fluid!!. WOW what a cool club, i only really go there on Thursday nights cos they have this really cool guy at the door. I think he's European, I think his name is Mirko. He is the highlight of my night there. He is really friendly and nice to everyone. I heard he also owns a martial arts school here in the city called Zanshin Dojo ( think its out in the Richmond district on like 22nd and balboa St) he also has a great website sfgoju dot com. I would lighly recommend a Thursday night at Fluid.
