Overrated – Just because the term "ultra lounge" is attached to the name of a club doesn't mean that it's any better than any other club. I've been to Fluid twice, the first time there was a private party and the second time was on a Friday night. Both times, the music and service were mediocre. The atmosphere is great but, without good music (weird 80's and house mixes), it's not someplace I'd spend my entire night. The bouncers were actually super nice to my group and pulled us from the back of the line to the front and we didn't have to pay a penny. The crowd is on the older side (mostly in their 30's)- which I'm not in to- so be aware before you go. If you're curious, get on the guestlist so you can avoid the cover and check it out for yourself.
Awesome place – I had heard so-so things about this place, but a bunch of my friends ended up there one night so I joined them there. To put it briefly, there was great music, hot women who were nice and easy to talk to, and since it was halloween very creative costumes which all made for a very fun atmosphere. The ironic thing was that people there are actually much easier to talk to and have a conversation with than other so-called less pretentious places (sort of like NYC style but with SF friendliness). Maybe that makes me a pretentious person myself, but, so be it, everyone's got their niche, and this is definitely mine for some time to come.
This bar is a spinning image of the down lounge Fluid in Singapore. Same owners? Nonetheless, quality. Only difference may be the lack of Absolut bottles adorning each wall, joining with copious mirrors, white props, and silver lined furniture. Pukka!
So the first time I went to Fluid I had a blast, it was not to crowded and we befriended a group of guys who had a VIP room. The service was great and to top it all off there was actually room on the dance floor to dance! The other times I have been there were not as great but I can't complain. The service at the bar is not the greatest, and the drinks are a little on the pricey side. If you want to meet the club industry go when they are hosting an event because they will put no limit to throwing an awesome party.
Logan's Run.. No Run Logan Run – I was all excited to check this place out. Then I went and had to deal with the attitude at the door and even the bartenders once I went inside. I guess thats what makes it a NYC or South Beach Club.
Just like everyone else I love the floor. I too was at the DK party and got the same attitude then I went inside to dance off my fustration.. I was dissapointed.. I should of just stayed home, plugged in my christmas lights and danced in my bedroom.
Great Place – Amazing Space and great service! The European table service is awesome. The staff is good looking and professional. Defintely going back for more partying.....
Don't bother – The only thing Fluid has going for it is the lighted floor. Big deal. Ripoff from the 1980's NYC club scene. I went when Mixed Elements was promoting. I noticed the promoter was really rude to a lot of people wasting their time waiting in line. Once inside, you'll realize that you'd be in a better atmosphere and around better people if you spent your cover charge on a bottle of wine and hung out on the corner. Fluid is trendy, typical and already tired.
What a waste for true SF Partiers – Music was good, soulful, deep house. However, the vibe was terrible. The crowd was all "tourists and bridge and tunnel"! The biggest negative, however, was the service by the bartendar with glasses. I asked for a glass of water and he looked at me and passed me up. The gentlemen next to me said, "this lady would like a drink" and the bartendar passed me up. Never in my life, as I have been in the scene in the last 3-4 years, has anyone been so rude. All the other bartendars appoligize for him. One other bartendear tried to fool us by giving us a virgin shot saying it was from the bartendar with glasses to apologize. What an insult! This place is for the tourists and the bridge and tunnel folks. True SF partiers do not want to go here. I will recommend people to never go to Fluid.
A slick new nightspot – This place is definitely up there near the top of the list as far as sharp lounges go. Lots of beautiful people, solid bartenders and great music coming through over a top-notch sound system. But the drink prices and steep cover are disappointing. There are lots of equally cool places to hang out at in South of Market that don't charge cover or $8-$10 for a drink. That's the only downside, though. Otherwise, this place is a solid newcomer.
Chic New Hotspot – The place is something right out of the movies. I've always wondered why San Francisco does not have a great looking place where I can put on a beautiful outfit and dance.
Reminds me of the South Beach and NY clubs. Definitely worth going.
Happy Hours are a great time to go and view this Lounge Club.
