Great Music, good looking 24-27 year olds. I've been to Fluid 3 times, each time with a different crowd, but had a blast every single time. It's a good place to meet people. The music was hot, great beat, one good song after another. The people were really friendly, and it's a great ambiance. This is the white collar people's club, no kids here. I've not yet been disappointed.
Looks great, do not expect substance.
Firstly, ignore the (probably) poorly dressed haters. This is a great bar for looking good and being with the good looking...with all that it entails. Sooo, long meaningful conversations...NO. Being surrounded by hotties...YES.
So what if this means it's shallow. That's precisely what dance bars are for. I had a great time. Two of my friends had a VIP room for their birthdays...and that means no line, no cover - Hurray! I'll definately do the same for a party anytime. the music was great, the boys and girls looked great, and the private waitress was beyond fabulous. And best of all the ambience was flawless - no crashers mucking up our party and despite what the haters say the bouncers were all very professional.
PLEASE DO NO GO HERE; SUCH A WASTE OF TIME. Please disregard any positive review of this "club." It is a dismal place that should just be shut down so something of value could open in its place. In the very least, the club should fire its abominably rude bouncers, who are too busy taking drugs to actually treat people in line with any respect. My party went last weekend and we weren't even allowed in the door, as we were accused of "sneaking in." This is completely ridiculous, particulary since we were standing in line with money in hand. I am never going here again and spreading the word; life's too short to be treated like crap by random, power-tripping bouncers and club management.
A glamorous downtown space where the flashy clientele glows as brightly as the neon floor..
The Scene
The main room, crowned by a busy central bar, is a minimalist study of white and silver, with mirrors embedded along the pristine walls and atop round cocktail tables dotting the perimeter. A rotating schedule of resident and guest DJs spin hip hop, mash ups, rock, 80s and house music for revelers on the dance floor and private parties underway in two VIP rooms. The best spectacle, however, is the light-up floor, which leads from the entrance like a neon-red carpet and casts the hordes of gold-flashing status-seekers in a multicolored glow.
The Draw
With specialty cocktails like popular champagne flutes starting at $10 and premium scotch priced at $25 per glass, this place is all about opulence. Service is key, with a fleet of attentive cocktail waitresses tending patrons who pay up for a table, booth or VIP room.
Save your time and money. When we first got there, the security made us stand behind some roped off area. He asked us three times if we are on the guest list. Keep in mind we are the only people in line waiting to get in. After 15 minutes, they let us in charging 15 dollars each. We thought we were getting into an awsome club, turns out we were wrong. Walked into the club and there were a few people at the bar and a few girls standing around talking to eachother. Music sounded awful. bartenders weren't helpful and drinks were over priced. Atmosphere sucked! We spent a total of 15 minutes and left to go to another club. This was at 11:30 pm on a saturday night! If you don't like pushy security, expensive drinks, bad music, bad atmosphere, DON"T GO HERE!! they advertise this place crazy just to try to get people in
To Party & Be Treated Like a Rockstar !!. I just went to Fluid last weekend and it was the most amazing place. The atmosphere was full of beautiful people and the vibe was awesome. This is definitely the place to go for any type of night you are looking for- you will totally have a good time! The staff was so freindly and accomodating to my friends and I.....and let me tell you they rock the music like no other!!! The past few times I've gone, they had DJ's from New York, Vegas....even Jazzy Jeff!!! I highly recommend Fluid- hands down!!!!
SoFla... ewww, in SF. HATED this place... ugly lighting, lots of leather coats walking and unbuttoned shirts (chest hair) walking around... felt like i was in Miami Beach again, esp. w/ the drink prices! Yes it was crowded and it would appear popular and trendy... but if that's the case you probably need glasses and forgot them at home. Top it off: tiny tinyyyy dance floor which was pretty dark. Don't get me wrong, I like SoFla, but Fluid just seems too cheesy for SOMA.
on it's way out. i agree w/the negative reviews here. anyone who goes once will determine whether they like it or not. my honest assessment is the decor besides the floor is virtually nonexistent & disappointing. the drinks r way overpriced, & if ur going to charge that much, there better be some eye candy. i suggest they reinvest some profits & redecorate, esp the miniscule ugly dance floor stuffed in the back. the main thing a venue can offer its guests r the people, so if ur into the older, mediocre, bridge & tunnel, b-list crowd, then by all means. i think the staff is surly b/c even they don't want to be there. i will never go there again. to answer some questions, the club is owned by 2 silicon valley guys who have never opened any type of establishment before.
Very nice decor. Many of you have probably seen this place already. If you haven't, you should go check it out. The decor is just outstanding, along with the floor that lights up, reminds of miami.
If you are looking for great club.. keep looking!. I was very excited by the decor, however, the people working there were distasteful and unpleasant, the people attending were boring and there was no dance floor. Instead people were dancing at the bar. Would not recommend to anyone.
