Waxing injured my face. Quoted discount not honored.. Mara's Salon waxing has caused injury to my face, and they also did not honor a price reduction quoted to me on the phone. I spoke with the owner today and she also did not honor the price reduction. She offered a complimentary pedicure to make up for the injury saying, "I think that's pretty nice of us."

The eyebrow wax I received removed three strips of skin from around my eye area, which are red, inflamed, and scabbing. The owner said, "It's waxing. We can't control it. That will happen sometimes. I mean, I'm sorry your skin came off. Put some ice on it and it will be fine in a couple of days."

At the time I made my appointment I was offered a discount for booking four services during one visit. Once there, no discount was offered and, only after complaining, I was begrudgingly given $5 off (of $155 in services)--a whopping 3%. Today the owner told me, "Well, that just shows you why you should get the name of the person on the phone when they say things like that."

I would have been happy to resolve this directly with the owner; however, thanks to her attitude, I will instead be looking into filing a formal complaint with the city or state.

Great hidden treasure. Mara's salon is great! fabulous hospitality. Very accomodating with scheduling. Mara is great at making recommendations at what will look good with face type and personal style. I'm getting tons of compliments on my new cut. Also the nail salon is one of the best in the city. Very professional, long, long massages with mani-pedi, and amazingly enough the polish stays on.

Great Salon! Great people!!! AND FUN PLACE!!!!!!!!!!. As a loyal customer of 2.5 years I've been seeing Mara and Emily for my hair, nails and tanning. Not only do they accommodate me at anytime that works for ME :D they also provide me with great service and wonderful atmosphere!!!

They recently remodeled their nail area (looks so good) and hired more people. Maras Salon has been staying open 7 days a week for several months now (I know because I am there EVERY Sat or Sun for mani and pedi and few more days a week for tanning). All of you, who are looking for a great and fun place to go to, should go and check out Maras Salon!!!!!!!

A great haircut and really nice people - they even stayed open late for me!. I have been getting my hair cut at Mara's for about 2 years now, and the salon is always clean and cheerful. I keep going back partially because of the compliments I get on my hair, but mainly because of how nice and how flexible they are. I am a REALLY busy person, and sometimes it's hard for me to find time to do things like get my hair cut.

A couple of weeks ago, I was running late for my 6:30 appointment with Emily. I called the salon and told them I wouldn't be able to make it by 7, and that I would probably need to reschedule. Mara told me that they would wait for me to get there and sure enough, when I got there, they were waiting for me.

I would definitely recommend Mara's Salon to anyone looking for a friendly salon that really cares about their customers. Enjoy!

Correction. Since my last posting, Mara's has been a much more convenient place to stop for pedi's and tanning. And I still have to say that their pedi's are some of the best of I've had.

See Emily. As a guy I would say that this salon doesn't have the best "cool vibe". However, Emily cut my hair perfectly the first time I saw her and I'll be continuing to see her for the foreseeable future. Very reasonably priced too.

Incredible color job by emily. Just wanna say thanks Emily at Maras Salon for giving me the most amazing color that i have ever had. I feel like a hair model with this color and have never recieved so many compliments!! Also Emily was so entertaining and really made me feel comfortable like hanging out at a friends house, listening to great music and gossiping while having my hair transformed into something i had no idea that it had the potential to be... she really made me feel beautiful and you cant put a price on that! (although the prices are incredibly reasonable... especially given the talent, quality and overall experience of the salon)

Very pleased customer. I came into town from NY,and stayed at a local hotel in the Hayes Valley, where by chance they referred me to Mara's for my waxing, and hair, which was conviently accross the st. Not only was the salon beautiful, but the staff was extremly helpful, polite, and directed me into the direction that i had no clue i was about to go in. I ended up buying a tanning package (for the brief stay in SF), got my AMAZING mani/pedi from Anthony, and then Emily ended up flat-ironing my overly-frizzy mane. I loved it all, and if i lived in the city, i would definately, with no doubt refer everyone i know to this salon. I believe it is the only full service salon in the Hayes Valley. I am very happy with my experiece there, and here. And look forward to visiting them again when i return. Thanx!

Recommend this salon to anyone!!. Maras salon gives off a very comfy vibe. Not only do you want to keep coming back for more but you can get everything you need from one place. Whether its stopping in for a quick tan or spending the day pampering yourself in this beautiful salon, your in for a treat. The service is excellent and Emily is an incredibly talanted individual, her eye for color is impeccable and her cuts are perfect. I highly recommend this salon and will definately come back for more.
