A few quirks and English sensibility make for a comfy getaway..
In Short
This handsome and eccentric little hotel is just minutes from Union Square. It carries on in the style of a traditional British hotel, with a staff that strives to make each guest feel individually welcome. The 92 chambers are furnished with mahogany furnishings and soft accents in shades of blackberry and muted greens. Small baths are done in marble and brass. Complimentary sherry and tea are served in the lobby each morning.

Great location and unexpected charm..
I was pleasantly surprised!! Given the location, cleanliness, and general ambiance of the hotel, the room was a great deal (via Orbitz). I'd definitely stay there again.

2 night stay.
Disinterested & indifferent desk clerk carried on a lengthy personal call while I waited to check in to my "deluxe queen" room. I had not expected to need to leave the building for the advertised continental breakfast, but it was available at a canteen down the street. Lack of on-premise food service is inconvenient. The building has architectural charm, but the staff needs customer service training. I checked out during a phone call as well.
