The Scene
A subtle amber flush emanates from the small, front-lit bar, scattered tea light candles and wall sconces, casting a romantic glow over this sleek little eatery. Two petite dining rooms encased by silky gray walls are filled with intimate, marble-topped tables, spaced sparsely enough to provide privacy for the well-heeled date crowd. Service is polite and knowledgeable in both the extensive wine offerings and the ever-changing menu.
The Food
Patrons at the bar can pair a short menu of artisanal cheeses, such as Italian mountain gorgonzola with walnuts, apple bits and a local honey glaze, with the weekly wine flight. The rotating dinner menu, composed entirely of organic ingredients, features beautifully plated California-style fare, such as a juicy, pepper-crusted coulette steak rubbed with fresh Italian butter or a roasted chicken with caramelized shallots and broccoli over velvety potato puree. Vanilla gelato steeped in espresso makes a heavenly dessert for two.

Came in the other night and the place was kinda quiet, as is the norm these days I guess. Too bad, the prix fixe is only $29.95 and you will be well fed. Had the split pea soup with ham, what a great soup for a cold rainy night. Then I got the Hoffman farms fried chicken....probably the best chicken I ever had, and I like chicken. Then finished with the apple and huckleberry crisp, all in all very satisfied. The wine list is pretty extensive and reasonably priced, with lots to choose from by the glass. Service is very friendly, and towards the end of my dinner the place started filling up, and it seemed like they were regulars. I will probably become one, too.

This is a good place to come to eat with friends. I came here and got the Berkshire pork chops. They were so good - the meat melted in my mouth. The service was good and waitress was very friendly and nice. Seems like they need more staff at times because they are so busy.

Mrs. Wineguy and I have eaten here many times and it just seems to get better with each visit! Last night we slurped down a half bottle of crisp Sancerre with our first courses. Mrs. Wineguy had an Antipasto plate that included several types of salamis as well as a lovely Duck Pate on homemade toasts. This was accompanied with some pickled vegetables as well as various types of olives-all very good. I started with an Arugula salad with some Marcona Almonds and cheese shavings-a good foil for my rich main course. For our main courses Mrs. Wineguy enjoyed her Nettles Gnocchi filled with Ricotta which were aided and abetted by chantarelles, carmalized cauliflower and pine nuts-this was a very inventive and wonderful dish. While I somehow found a way to finish what could possibly have been the world's largest and best pork chop! Actually it was a bone-in pork loin chop milanese that was crisp, light and absolutely wonderful! It's sidekick was simply sauteed spinach and I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. We downed a bottle of the rich and earthy Volk Mourvedre with our main courses and were very happy. We finished by splitting the pumpkin bread pudding, which was rich and light all at once-just terrific! We sipped on small glasses of a dessert wine made from Chenin Blanc and all was well with the world. We always enjoy this restaurant. Service is friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. The setting is warm and intimate.
