The Best for Ice Cream in San Fran. Late last night we had a craving for ice cream but realised it was around 8:30 PM and no shops were likely to be open. We did a quick search on yelp and found Norman's right by our hotel; it had great reviews so we thought we'd give it go. We arrived there around three minutes after they were suppose to close and Norman was there himself cleaning up the place. I apologetically asked if we were keeping him from leaving for evening, even though he seemed very happy to see us, and he said "No, no, do not worry about that, I never close with a customer here for ice cream." He talked with us about where we were from and how we were enjoying our stay as scooped the ice cream we selected and then wished us a great rest of our trip. The ice cream itself, which is local Mitchell's Ice Cream, was great and the portions were very large, but the thing that made it for my girlfriend and I was the great service.

Go to Norman's if you want great ice cream, large portions, and old world service from an owner that actually cares about his customers.

Hot and Cold. During the Fisherman's Wharf 4th of July craziness it is pretty much impossible to find hot coffee, unless you enjoy waiting in mile long lines at Starbucks! We found this great little ice cream spot with a reasonable line and a selection of hot beverages! PERFECT! It was hard to pass up their selection of ice cream, but since it was about 5 degrees outside we stuck with our mission and went with their house coffee. It definitely served its purpose, and I will be back to try out their cold desserts soon!
