Rough around the edges but good.
The spartan decorations and distracting painting belie a very tasty meal at this hole in the wall eatery near chinatown. The naan was very tasty and filling and the curry was fantastic. We were stuffed by the time we left.

Best Cheap Indian.
The Best Cheap Chicken Tikki Masala in the city The chicken is fresh and is served in large chunks of white meat. The naan is also some of the best we have tried with a great texture and buttery finish. Very busy little "joint" type restaurant for locals. Great fresh food served fast. Self service, no frills indian but if great food is what you are looking for, this is the place. No alcohol served.

Best Indian food for your money.
The place is a bit "hole-in-the-wall"ish and the facilities could be cleaner, but eh, who cares? You get great tasting dishes, with a decent variety, for an amazing value! The eggplant dish is always my favorite. The dish tastes different every time I go there, interestingly enough, but it still tastes delicious every time. When I ask for spicy, they actually make it extremely spicy! Also the free and yummy chai is good enough reason to go alone!

Can't beat the value.
You won't finder cheaper and more savory Indian food than here. Yes, it is not the nicest or swankiest restaurant around, but I go there for the food!

Best Indian-style, spicy chargrilled meats!.
This dive-style Bay Area chain delivers up some of the best Indian-style chargrilled meats -- tandoori, tikka, kebabs, chops -- anywhere in the country. The lamb chops are their signature dish and the best. Food quality can vary throughout the day; you'll get the freshest preparations, right-off-the-grill during peak hours.
Strangely, despite the chain's name, this is not a good place to go for either curry or naans. The first tend towards the oily side and flourescent colors (from artificial food colorants), although the restaurant is uncharacteristically generous in the amount of meat. The second are frequently delivered badly charred and it can be unpleasant to get pieces of charcoal in one's mouth. All meat comes on the bones for best flavor and beware that MSG is often a standard component of the commercial spice mixes used by Indian restaurants.
Although the establishment also offers vegeterian dishes, these are not particularly good, ultimately this place is about meat.
The ambience of the place can easily put one off -- cheaply lit, cheaply furnished, generally untidy, thumping to a loud Bollywood beat, and guaranteed to leave you smelling like a tandoori chicken yourself when you leave. I usually order take-out, which allows me to enjoy the awesome chargrilled meats without suffering the ambience.
Avoid using the bathrooms if at all possible. They are attrocious.

Excellent and most inexpensive indian food!.
This has been one of my favorite haunts since I moved from New York, and in search of Indian food, I found this "gem". It always delivers to impress me and everyone I take to the newly opened location on O'Farrell. The ambience is ok, the service is "not bad", and the crowds are decent, but the music is always too loud. It's no place to go for a great evening, but its awesome for an evening when all you want is good indian food at a price that wouldn't pinch your pockets.

NEVER GO THERE.. STAY AWAY OF YOU WANT TO STAY HEALTHY.
First off all, this is not a true Indian place, as they server South Asian food but is owned by Pakistanis. My first impress about this place was a cheap, not well maintained and lousy ownership and funny that all my first impressions were last too.
These guys treat their guest like dirt. If given a chance I would take a legal action against these guys for misbehaving and for ill-treating their guest. I had a great day at San Francisco but after visiting this joint CURRY-N-CURRY all entire day was spoilt.
I happened to pass their kitchen and was surprised to see how dirty it was. Some guys were working there with dirty hands, without washing dishes or vegetables. The plate and glass I got were dirty with food stains, implying that they were not washed properly.
Their restrooms were in a sorry state. When I asked the directions to the restroom, I saw guys walking out of women restroom, how disgusting.
In short, DO NOT GO THERE and ruin your day.

Great hole in the wall Indian joint!.
I first stumbled upon Naan n' Curry after there was a fire at Chutney's, and boy am I glad I did! Outstanding tiki masala and saag paneer, and good naan (as befits a place that puts it in its name). The lamb dishes are consistently good, and there's always a surprise or two on the specials menu. The curries are sometimes a bit flat. The staff are very friendly, even when it's busy. Not a place to take a first date, but there's always fun music blasting at top volume (especially at the Eddy St. location) which makes for a fun, if campy, dining experience. For under $20, I don't know of a better place in the city, of any ethnicity.

best cheap food in the area.
If you're downtown and you want cheap food this is the place to go. The food is very good and far superior to other restaurants in the same price range regardless of the style of cuisine. The service is friendly, but the bathroom is sort of scary.
