Won't go back again!!. Initially, I was so excited that a salon in SF was experienced in the Devacurl method of cutting hair. I should have known better---only Devachan in NYC knows how to cut curly hair properly. I gave this place a fair chance. The first time I went, Marie cut a bit too much off of my hair, but the cut was decent, so I decided to go back a 2nd time and was more explicit in saying that I only wanted a trim; she did an ok job that time. Then, the 3rd and final time was the absolute worst!!! She cut too much off of my hair AND it was a bad cut! And her solution to managing the straight pieces at the back of my head (underneath the curls) was to cut the back in the shape of a "V". Whaaaaat??!! Who does that?! Now I am left with a suboptimal haircut, and will have to wait to get a decent haircut in a few months. . .when I go back to NY!!!
best place for an expert curly hair cut.
if you're not getting your curly hair cut by an expert who knows and understands curly hair, you are not experiencing your full curl-potential. And this is a sad and ugly thing! Curly hair is so awesome, but when it's cut wrong and cared for with the wrong products, it's frizzy, dry, and
Okay, so I'm not saying I'm the sh*t or anything, but, I do get many compliments on my hair, nearly every day. And while I attribute this some to genetics, most of all, it is due to the skill and precision of Marie France, stylist/owner of Madusalon. I get the Devacut, an innovative style of cutting curls, done on dry hair.
I'm a low-maintenance girl, just wash my hair, use a couple devacurl products, then air-dry, and each day my hair looks just as good as it did the day I got it cut in the salon. I have referred Marie to everyone who has asked, and those smart girls who heeded my advice have not been disappointed! If you consider your curly hair difficult and unmanageable, you have a bad cut. You are not taking full advantage of your curl-potential! If you want awesome curly hair (like mine!) call Marie ASAP. She's friendly and funny to boot.
Very bad haircut. Tried this place cause it was close to my house and I didn't want to spend $94 for my old hairdresser. I was so disappointed. I should have known it would be a bad cut judging from the person before me. Was hoppping it was just her hair. I receive a terrible cut. Yes it looked ok walking out because of all the product she put in. But it has been a terrible cut. None of my friends liked it. It looks horrible if I don't curl it with an iron to cover up the bad haircut. I might have save some money but it was not worth it. Even consider paying another place just to fix it. The hairdresser or maybe more of them have no idea what they are doing especially with fine thin hair. One of the worst cuts I have gotten in a long time.
YIPEE!. Finally found a great salon. Folks, people will tell you to go to other salons for curly or ethnic hair, but they are wrong! This is the place. I've been searching for five years and I have now found a place that actually knows how to cut my curly hair in a funky, stylish, easy to wear way. I LOVE THIS PLACE.
Editorial Review. Upbeat beauty salon in Alamo Square delivers edgy cuts and color to a young clientele; the stylists specialize in curly hair.
So Fresh and So Clean!. Are you planning on hitting the club up? Maybe you have a job interview? Or got to go to a family reunion? No matter what the case is, Carolina Madrid will hook your braids up! She has been braiding my hair for 4 years, and I have always been satisfied. Her intuition and vision drives her to create never-before-seen cornrow styles, and I don't think she has ever given me the same look twice. So, if you want to keep that hurr tight, hit up Madu Salon and ask for Mz. Madrid!
User review by dianalandero. A warm and pleasant salon with skilled stylists. Carolina Madrid is the best colorist that ever worked on my hair. Her intuition and artful approach lead to a great hair style and color. She trully exceeded my expectations.
hairstyling you will never outgrow. after sticking with two other salons for a few years each with same-old cuts, i tried madu salon last year. wow, it's a big change to have a hairstylist with such a passion for finding a new look for her clients. jaretta just has the intuition to see inside you and make your hairstyle sing. she is a sorceress with the scissors -- layering and shaping my straight hair in a short cut like nobody else. last month she styled my hair for a magazine shoot i did, and the magazine staff loved her work. the salon staff is so supportive and the environment so comfortable, it's always a treat to go and you won't want to leave.
madusalon is an experience not to be missed!
Owner Mariefrance is an artist with your hair. Let her do her magic and I assure you will be thrilled! She's been my stylist for years, even while living on the east coast (her cuts have an amazing way of evolving when you can't quite find the time to get in when you normally ought to... such talent!) The salon is an aesthetic feast...great art & decor. The space & all the stylists are fun and friendly, relaxed and real! Walking in, you will feel like part of the family. Must go!
Wickid!!. and I mean that in the best possible way. I wanted quite a drastic change and Jaretta was just a dream, She just Knows. She knows what you think you know. I walked out a whole new woman with fabulous hair, ready to rock it. She is great with colour , has a unique way of cutting , she has the formula for producing excellent results. Friendly staff, good vibe, completely unpretentious enviroment, highly recomended.
