Tips for Revolution Cafe

Inconsistent. When Revolution is good, it's great, but that all depends upon who's preparing your food or making your coffee. Sometimes the coffee is downright burnt and undrinkable (and that takes talent since I'm not super picky when I need a caffeine fix).

Inconsistently Great. Revolution is a great place to hang out on a sunny day in the mission. The staff is friendly, but don't expect fast service.

The only reason I can't give them 5 stars is that there's a huge inconsistency in how stuff (even coffee) is prepared from one employee to another. I've had both a great and an awful Chicken Caesar there, and same goes for getting a Mocha. When it is good, it's REALLY good, and the ambiance makes up for a lot

This half-indoor, half-outdoor bohemian cafe in the Mission offers lots of sun, be-dreaded counter-culture types, and live music.. Due to the magical Mission weather patterns and a perfect angle towards the afternoon sun, it's almost always warm at the tables outside "The Rev"--which in this windy, foggy city explains why this place is usually crowded even at 3pm on a Tuesday. There's nothing special about the coffee, food or booze, although the prices are reasonable, but there is a certain bohemian spirit that attracts writers and artists, neighborhood characters, and "glaucoma" patients freely enjoying their medication. There's also live music a few nights a week, and late hours for a cafe, when it transforms into a bar scene, albeit one where alcohol isn't the only thing being consumed.

The open-air atmosphere can't be beat for the sitting and sipping cafe experience.. In Short
This Mission café and art bar is a longtime favorite for lingering over a café au lait with your laptop or chatting over brews; the short but selective list includes Chimay. Coffee drinks abound, but the house special sangria--available in red or white--is the real reason this is such a popular date place. Well-made and reasonably priced salads and sandwiches help wash it all down while not washing out the cash flow.
