Its all about Taco Tuesdays!.
Granted I think I am the only one here over 30 years old on Taco Tuesday, but I don't care. I am so into the tacos I will ignore the 21 year olds in line next to me talking about how to get their
parents to give them more money for off campus food rather than campus meal plans.
Nicks only takes cash FYI. But there is an ATM next to the front where you pay for the food. At the bar where you order drinks in the red chandelierish room, they take credit cards. Another FYI, you don't order your alcohol and your tacos from the same places. I am not sure if it's because Nicks' and the red chandelierish room are too different places ( the red chandelierish room has a door leading outside with a sign on it saying Rogue) but who knows?
Anyway when ordering a taco, to me, the only way to go is Nick's way: which entails it being FRIED, and covered in cheese and guac. I mean, isn't that the point of a taco? I've had the tacos here once when it wasn't Nick's way and I didn't even finish it as it didn't compare.
What else is there to say about the place? Oh on Taco Tuesdays, the Tacos are $2, or $2.95 Nicks' way. Normal days I think they are maybe $4. If it's Taco Tuesday and you are coming with more than 4 people get there before 5pm to get a table as after that you're gonna have to wait. And after 6pm be ready to wait in line for both drinks and tacos. But it moves pretty fast considering.
It's worth it either way. So worth it.…
Nick's Crispy Tacos - Need I say More?. Went to Rouge last night to drink a $10 Sierra Nevada pitcher (I swear I shared some of it!). Attached is this little mexican food place, Nick's Crispy Tacos. We were all pretty hungry so we ordered chicken tacos, steak nachos, and a quessadilla (again....I swear I shared!) They served us right at the bar so we could happily enjoy our pitcher and food. The tacos were to die for! Sooo crispy and delicious! If not just for the 90 year old drunk singing man at the bar, I will be coming back to Rouge and Nick's Crispy Tacos for more! YUM!…
Taco Tuesdays are Tasty.
OK, so we all know that the best Mexican food is in the Mission. But if you live up here in the yuppie area of town, who really wants to go all the way down there to get your Mex fix? Not I. Enter
Nick's Crispy Tacos. It's your one-stop shop for solid Mexican eats with the comfort of non-shady surroundings (unless you count the creepy red suede booths that are around for when the joint turns into Rouge Nightclub).
Not only do they have pretty tasty tacos & burritos, but the breakfast is pretty good too. I recently had the breakfast burrito with Andouille sausage, and I very much enjoyed the slight spicy kick to wake me up on a Sunday morning. Taco Tuesday are great for some cheap eats as well.
N ice, convenient location on Polk at Broadway, in Russian Hill.
I t's cash-only, so hit up the ATM outside before you go in.
C heap and delicious... like any good Mexican place should be.
K eep away on Tuesdays if you can't handle a crowd.
S olid eats at an affordable price.…
