good vibe for a good place.
Ok, I am older....like over 50. The first time I went into this store was with my then boyfriend, who is now my husband. We actually walked around (a little bit nervously at first), like we were in a candy store, just viewing all the toys and artifacts. Some were disturbing, but I thought "to each their own". I didn't give it 5 stars, because they don't have EVERYTHING!!, but the atmosphere is light, congenial, the staff are helpful, and we actually had fun.
At one point I was looking at something in one part of the store and my husband, was over near another display giggling with a complete stranger, a young woman. I walked over and they had found small vibrators in the guise of winnie the pooh, and hello kitty! I wished I had bought them now, because the last time I went back, they no longer carry these and I thought they are great little gag gifts or gifts for the collector!
Anyhow, to make a long story short, my husband and I love this store, and we always visit when we visit san francisco......its like a pilgrimage.
if you have ever been afraid to enter, don't be, its an easy place to hang out in.
Sexuality doesn't have to be sleazy, unless you like it that way!. I remember as a teenager hearing about this cooperative place called Good Vibrations, where women, men, couples, groups, etc were invited to embrace sexuality, learn about their bodies without judgment and best of all buy toys that won't fall apart in an environment thats not sleazy! Visiting a goodvibes store is like visiting a museum of sexuality, they have displays of antique vibrators, new toys that you can touch and manipulate and educators who are a wealth of information on sexuality at your fingertips. Visiting them can make a fabulous addition to a date night or an even better girls night out!
Legendary, woman-owned shop in the Mission offers adult toys, sexual health workshops and more in a "sex-positive" atmosphere..
In Short
Behind clouded glass doors, shoppers are greeted by a giant poster with the store's mission statement and brief history. Beyond the sign lies a wide-open clean and tasteful space, which holds sex toys, erotic books and videos, bondage and fetish gear and safe sex supplies. Categorical signs mark each section, making these products easy to find. The shop's knowledgeable staff and goal of promoting sexual health and pleasure has gained it both credibility and status on a national scale.
