The Scene – Celadon-green paint cleverly masks the concrete walls and soothes the spirit, while dark-wood panels intricately carved with elephants and deities bring more exotic locales to mind. From warm greetings at the door to pleasantly proffered wine tips, the entire waitstaff embodies the famed Thai friendliness, in a chic, modern setting. – – The Food – The kitchen's fresh, herb-infused renditions of everyone's favorite Thai food (think pad thai and green curry) are sure to satisfy and satiate. But those looking for more adventurous fare will find plenty. Try the…

Good Thai in the city!

by TonyTenderoni at Citysearch

I recently moved to San Fran from Seattle and one thing I miss is the great thai place I would frequent on cold days for a bowl of oh-so-good tom yum kung!

I've been on the hunt for a place that measures up and a coworker of mine suggested koh samui

I msut say that their menu is extensive and offers anything and everything you could possibly want when craving thai food!

they also serve some good cocktails during dinner, I usually have TY KU which is perfect at cooling down that palate after those spicy dishes!

I happen to love super spicy food, but for those who dont thay have a milder selection and you can always order anything on the menu in a mild version...

I must admit that most of the btter thai places I've been to dont really worry themselves with decorating, but this place has a modern yet casual feeling to it

The service is decent and the food come out pretty fast...this might be my new thai place!

Service Was Very Poor

by skm916 at Citysearch

This previously was one of my favorite neighborhood restaurants. However, tonight, I ordered fresh spring rolls (rice noodles, shrimp and mint leaves), as I have done every time I have eaten at a Thai restaurant, and was brought vegetarian rolls (lettuce, cilantro and tofu). The waiter argued that he had brought spring rolls and that there were shrimp and mint leaves in the rolls. I disected the rolls for him and showed him that they were, in fact, vegetarian rolls...no shrimp, no rice noodles and no mint leaves. He then, once again, brought me vegetarian rolls and we went through this routine a total of 3 times!!! I finally gave up on the fresh spring rolls and ordered another appetizer, which arrived after we had finished our entrees. When the waiter brought us the check, he advised that he had not charged me for the rolls, which I had sent back 3 times and never ate. The situation was totally mishandled in the first place, as he should have ensured that he brought the correct dish and after serving the wrong dish 3 times, he should not have charged me for the appetizer I finally ended up ordering instead. I am really disappointed with the service I received and probably will not be back.

Best Thai food anywhere

by jamesbeswick at Citysearch

I love Thai food. Love it. If there was only one type of food I could eat, it would be Thai. Koh Samui is only 3 minutes from where I live so I eat here ridiculously often. From my many experiences, I would say it has the friendliest and most efficient service in the whole city. It also has hands-down the best curries anywhere (pumpkin curry is to die for and sirloin steak green curry is a definite vice of mine). If it's your first time, be sure to do the following: (1) get the sampler appetizer to try a little of everything - it's well portioned, good value and awesome. (2) Ask the server for recommendations - they all know the menu inside out.

I principally love this place because the food is not oily at all. Too many Thai places throw on the oil as a replacement for freshness and taste. The curries are also very finely balanced so you get to taste the spices and not have your head blown off with chillies. Overall, the food and wine is reasonably priced (although the cocktail prices at the bar are a little steep, bizarrely), and the service is perfectly attentive. One of my favorite restaurants anywhere.

PS - We were there on Valentine's night and their set menu ranks as one of the best meals I've ever had. My wife was pleased with me... which means I am pleased with them :-)

  • Pros: Great thai food, reasonably priced, fantastic service
  • Cons: Cocktail prices at the bar are a little high
