Favorite local spot. I grew up in the neighborhood and wished this place was here when I still lived in the sunset, but it's worth the trip everytime. The food is always good and the waitress is always smiling and friendly, despite being the only server most of the time. She is fast and efficient. Excellent service. Excellent food.
Amazing food, service, and value... oh yes.
As resident of San Francisco with all the great restaurants, this is one of our favorites. Serive is one of the best, the waitress remembers you after two visits, water glass is never empty, coffee and chocolate cake is worth going there just for desert.
House special Sea Breeze Salad with olives, spinach, feta cheese, and seared ahi tuna amazing. Also, our other favorites include the Calamari (be warned, portions are huge), the burger, and if you catch it the pork loin and (home made) mac-and-cheese combo with fresh corn on the cob.. Yum...
Aside from wonderful dinners, do stop by on the weekend before hanging out by the beach and enjoy the special and once again wonderful brunch menu. French toast, oatmeal, omeletts, the only bad part is difficulty to choose.
Perfect quiet dinner spot. In seeking a quiet and romantic dinner spot, we found this wonderful seafood restaurant with surprisingly excellent food. Fried calamari with chopped tomatoes and lots of lemon slices started things off right. Prawns with avocado in a buttery sauce was bursting with flavor. Ahi tuna vegetable salad was a home run. Creme brulee with thick crust and candied walnuts was pretty good. All the food is made with care. Nice and friendly service. Before tip, dinner with drinks was $54, a very good value. We'll be back soon.
A Blast at the Beach with Good Food. We found great food out near the ocean. Here food is prepared and serve like a soothing sunset. Every dish we ordered even after our 3rd visit was just as great as the previous. Service only complemented our experience as we tried tasty delights, all created & prepared with fresh organic ingredients, variety of meats & seafood. Our tie for favorite is a desire for adventure the Ahi-tuna salad or the need to cancel our hunger the chefs big house burger -your way!. What is great about this little oasis, is that they offer almost everything you and yours want to enjoy from great smooth coffee to mimosas & milkshake's moving to food like the Eggs Benedict with the secret chipotle sauce or ending sweetly with great chocolate cake.
Warm service and simple, classic American eats keep this tiny Outer Sunset shop afloat..
In Short
By day, burgers, scrambles, sandwiches and salads satisfy the under-$10 set. At night, the candles are lit, the cheap wine and beer are poured, and the kitchen goes upscale with heartier, more elegant comfort fare, like warm prawns with avocado, pan-seared rib eye, and salmon filets. Service is sit-in-your lap friendly, catering to just a handful of diners in this far-reaching corner of the City.
So-so..
If you like super-rich food in enormous portions, this is your place. I have to say that's not exactly my speed. I'm also allergic to certain ingredients which makes going out to dinner quite stressful. Although the waitress promised us that none of these ingredients were in the food we ordered, it turned out that they were using a store-bought salad dressing (and what SF restaurant worth their salt would do that!?) that both tasted awful *and* had one of these ingredients in it. I wound up taking a few bites when I had to ask her AGAIN to be sure. She came running back to the table saying "don't eat the salad...it has soy." Gee. Thanks.
I do have to say, though, that everyone there is super-nice. Our burger was way over the top, but tasty, and the shrimp appetizer was fantastic.
The Best By The Sea. Really awesome food, great service, and super neat ambiance. The Chef is the owner so you know it's got to be great, their wine corkage fee is super reasonable, loads of free parking, right by the N-Juda and the ocean. A++ Love it!!
Try it once- you'll become a regular. Walk through the door of this wonderful little Outer Sunset surprise and youll find yourself greeted by the most cheerful hostess (and co-owner). If you've come for the weekend brunch then youll be delighted by some of the best food in town with a reasonable price. All of their breakfast fares are superb and their burger is possibly the best (and biggest) in town. Try their organic salad with seared ahi-tuna and you'll be coming back again and again. Stop by for a relaxing and/or romantic dinner one evening and you will be swept off your feet. You'll lose the weekend brunch crowds and find the food has been taken to another level. The burger and ahi-tuna salad are still on the dinner menu along with the juiciest porkchop you'll ever taste and a perfectly done whitefish fillet. Try this place once- you'll become a regular.
Don't Tell Anyone! It's great!. A transplant from the East Coast whispered that she could guide me to a reasonably-priced, sumptuously homey meal served in a colorful beachy atmosphere, where we could dine to the comforting rumble of the streetcar and in the presence of a small group of laid-back urban types (in their flip-flop & capri drag, of course). We drove because there's ample parking (although we would have been deposited practically at the front door, by the N Judah). Tasty, fresh comfort food with a twist, served in the nicest possible way by the nicest possible people, to a contented cluster of couples, singles and families. Not many people can fit in this delightful joint, but there's outdoor seating---and if you have to wait, it's worth it. As the restful sea breeze wafts by, you realize that this place is aptly named. I vote this to be "Best Alpha-State" restaurant.
A Reason to Live in the Sunset.
Before my wife and I were married two years ago, we were drawn to the Outer Sunset. When looking for homes in the neighborhood, a meal at the Sea Breeze Cafe convinced us this was the place we wanted to live. This restaurant epitomized what we wanted in a neighborhood: friendly proprietors, cheerful diners, and a relaxed atmosphere.
The Sea Breeze continues to be our favorite place to eat. The food the Cafe serves is creative and excellent, from the Organic Salad with Ahi Tuna which my wife eats on almost every visit to the variety of dishes I enjoy (real homemade meatloaf, light and flavorful seafood).
It seems most people visit the Sea Breeze for weekend brunch, which is always great, but my favorite meals there are quiet romantic dinners on weeknights. We always feel at home, able to relax after a hectic day of work.
