Editorial Review for Jade Bar – by Anna Balkrishna
The Scene
From the green-tiled bar to the fresh orchids set into candlelit nooks, all elements work to calm the cocktail psyche. The main floor houses a small central bar and a 20-foot waterfall that empties into a pond below. The trickle runs downstairs to a lounge complete with Asian-styled banquettes and a second bar. All the way upstairs, there's a small shag-carpeted loft.
The Draw
As one of the only bars in the neighborhood not tied to a restaurant, Jade fills a void. This is a popular place to go when celebrating birthdays and baby showers, or relaxing after the area's treasured boutiques close. Unlike the throng of Marina and North Beach lounges, Jade's stand-alone status provides a sanctuary for attractive 20- and 30-somethings who don't want to spend all night looking for parking.

My friend & I had a great time here recently on a Sunday night. The decor is tasteful with orchids, a cool waterfall/waterwall thing and artful lighting. The bartender was totally friendly, the patrons were all having a nice chill time (late 20s-late 30s) with somebody passing around chocolate for everyone to share. We stayed for a couple hours talking at our table and enjoying the positive vibe. The drinks seemed a tiny bit weak at first, but at $2 a pop we could afford to keep drinking. The doorman was a gentleman, listened to our buzzed chatter and then helped us hail a cab in the rain. I forgot to tip him and feel really bad about it now. Next time, I promise.
Pros: Friendly, great atmosphere, cool drinks
Cons: Parking is tough so consider cabbing it

Great bar - very hip, beautiful decor and killer happy hour! It's small, so prepare yourself for close encounters of the drunk kind with patrons, but all else is pretty damn cool. Reminds me of some lounges in la - but without the attitudes and beautiful people. Sorry - I have to be honest... Awesome spot - check it out!
Pros: Ambiance, Happy Hour Specials are awesome
Cons: Location, Parking, Size
