This is the longest running GBT bar in the State of California it was originally named the Gangway 1n 1910 and was featured in a 1915 San Francisco worlds fair add. You can still find many early civil rights heroes of the Pre Gay Pride days sharing stories with the new ones over a strong drink. they open at 8am and party until 2 am . watch out for gthe fire breathing bar tender he is fun and will get you drunk before you know it.

Inside, the anchors-away theme continues with a faux hull spanning the ceiling. Kitschy nautical decor, strong, cheap drinks and colorful banter whipping around the bar conspire to turn a mere drink into entertainment. All the diva music one would expect populates the jukebox, but visitors are more likely to hear Eminem (and catch the transvestite at the end of the bar rapping along).
