Fantastic Flavors of old Italy! – Valentina and her staff were simply wonderful. This was a special occasion for me (First Date) and not only did they give me a great table they even accommodated me after I had to change my reservation time..
We had Pastas and they were full of flavor and made to perfection. I plan to go back soon.
Warm atmosphere, excellent value for money – In addition to the usual Italian dishes, Valentina specializes in unusual, creative appetizers. Recently we enjoyed a wonderful example: three huge perfectly sauteed scallops served with a heap of crunchy marinated cucumber and almonds, the flavors and textures complimenting each other beautifully. Their gnocchi, particularly with the Gorgonzola sauce, is luscious, soft little plump pillows bathed in sauce, and the tiramisu is outstanding. Valentina has a special neighborhood flavor to it - intimate, attractively decorated and a real value for money.
Such a gem! – Valentina's by far is one of my favorite Italian resturants in the Mission/Bernal Heights district. The service is friendly, the atmosphere is romantic, the food is incrediable, the prices are reasonable. You cannot go wrong with dining here.
More than great neighborhood Italian – It's more than just a good neighborhood Italian restaurant. The food was excellent - delicate, tasty, and well-presented. The ambience was true to Bernal Heights - comfy, not fancy, a little plain. Overall, a great place - especially cute for a date.
GREAT FOOD & SERVICE! – This restaurant is a neighborhood gem. The service is competent and the food superb. The restaurant itself is charming and unique.
try gnocchi ! – gnocchi with cheese were really good and delicate but overccoked, linguine pescatore were really tasty, figues wrapped in bacon with goat cheese unforgottable.Panna cotta nothing special, had better in Italy....overall recommended but I am still looking for the real authintic italian restaurant in town were pasta is not overcooked but al dente !
why do not bring chef from Italy?
Fantastic – The food was absolutely delicious, and the service geniunely friendly, swift, and full of character. The wait is worth it.
Really good Family restaurant – This Restaurant Provide really good italian family food. The wine list is also really good and the price is moderate. The decoration does not look italian ... But the food is. MAke reservation as it is often crowded especially the week end.
COOL PLACE – Our party of three had dinner last night and it was a real treat - simple chic decor, relaxed but attentive service, delicious food, eclectic crowd. We agreed that it's a good value, down to the most inexpensive pinot grigio.
Nothing remarkable – I was not so impressed. The decor is non-existent and the place is mainly functional, so no ambiance to speak of. The service was neglectful, even with few people there late at night.
A week later, I actually went to a different Italian restarant only a few blocks away called Palatino. It was a marked contrast in a good way. There was ambiance (candlelight, art, nice room decor and colors), very attentive service, and excellent food considering the price. If you are in the Bernal Heights neighborhood (or any other), I would highly recommend going to Palatino before Valentina.
