The Scene
High-tech hip abounds as minimalist Asian decor fuses with modern artistic touches. A spiral neon tapestry of lights and large plasma TV displaying nature scenes hang over the sushi bar, while electronic music at a surprisingly tolerable level provides a stylish soundtrack for the über-cool patrons.
The Food
A wealth of creative sushi rolls and some outstanding presentation-forward entrees make Naked Fish a huge hit. The Ika-Sansai cold calamari appetizer with Japanese mountain veggies explodes with a delicately sweet sesame vinaigrette. The Red Caterpillar roll, stuffed with spicy and seared tuna with a subtle, warmed honey glaze is a wonderful marriage of sweet and spice. Baby lobster tail from the robata grill tastes as beautiful as it looks, although the garlic dressing is little more than glorified potato salad. Under Chef Rick's specials, try Hatate Batayaki scallops with garlic butter--scallops have rarely been pan-fried to such perfection.

EXCELLENT Sashimi! The place is casual (we sat at the sushi bar), unpretentious and the price was right. Service was good as well. We will be back for the Hamachi, Sake, Albacore, Tuna, and Waloo Sashimi. Wonderful!

I had a really nice dinner here. Its a lively spot. My boyfriend and I got to chat with the new owner, who is working hard to raise the bar for this little Marina restaurant. Dinner was great, free edamame, a well rounded selection of sake with good descritpions, and a wine list that I will go back to sample. You will find some of the standard rolls and appetizers on their dinner menu, and some that are a little different. Nothing too outrageous, but everything was good. Our waitress was really sweet, and mentioned some pretty reasonable prices for Happy Hour too. I will have to go back and see. Most importantly - the sashimi tasted fresh... this is something that always makes or breaks a sushi restaurant for me. All in all, its a lovely little spot. Maybe not the place for some more *eh hem* snotty individuals, but I will be going back to enjoy friendly service, in a down to earth atmosphere.

With only 3 people at the Sushi Bar at 7:00pm and 6 people in the main dining room, I placed my order at 7:11 only to receive it 45 minutes later! Not only was the hostess who took my order rude, she never once felt it necessary to apologize for the absurd amount of time it took. A random waiter apologized and said it would just be a few more minutes at the 20 minute mark, then 30 then 40 minutes. My request for something to be comped fell on deaf ears and after many inquiries to the hostess, she finally responded this is how long it takes and still no aplogy when I flat out told her not to blame me for their incompetence. Unless you have 45 minutes to waste for mediocre sushi, don't bother. I could have driven to Ebisu, had my order filled and get back to Pacific Heights in the time it took.

Where to Sit:
If you choose to sit at the sushi bar, grab a table on the right side. The other end backs up to the kitchen doorway.
Know Before You Go:
Appetizer and entree portions are small, so try a few different items if you're dining in a group. Think Japanese tapas.
