This simple memorial is a large disc-like plaque on the southwest corner of the intersection of Bush and Octavia streets, the location of Mary Ellen Pleasant's former home.

The History
Slave turned businesswoman Mary Ellen Pleasant established the western terminus of the Underground Railroad and won the lawsuit in 1864 that allowed African Americans to ride San Francisco streetcars.
