Situated across from Muir Woods' towering redwoods, this small cove is somewhat shielded, offering protection from the wind and privacy for suit-less sunbathers, who congregate on the northern side of the big rock pile. Also appropriate for families, the southern side of the beach has tables, grills, fire pits and bathrooms. Swimmers take note: Lifeguards are not on duty and shark sightings are frequent.
