What Our Expert Scouts Say

May 23, 2013

If you go to Beretta for their extensive and delightful cocktail list and their thin crust pizza, you're obviously a person of great taste since that's what I do. A few outdoor seats and a lovely brunch later and you're practically a regular. Look at you.

Waits can be laughably long, so don't attempt a primetime visit; pizzas are pretty good and many of the antipasti are delicious.

Good Italian Food. The antipasta sampler is great as is the seared tuna. The portions are a little bit small, so if you are ordering appetizers, entre, dessert and drinks, you're looking at an upward of $40/person. The service is great. The physical layout of the restaurant is not great for large groups, but we had a large party and the server was extremely patient. Definitely worth checking out.

A stylish interior and reasonably priced Italian fare makes this lively restaurant a Mission hot spot.. The Scene
Renaissance-style decadence, such as gold walls and a stone fountain complete with carved cherubs, are paired with classy touches like thick red curtains, stained glass and flickering candles atop dark wood tables. A long bar backed by a gilt-accented mirror dominates one wall, and friendly servers navigate around tightly placed tables to deliver heaping portions to a hip, young clientele.

The Food
Expect rich food with an emphasis on Southern Italian. Starters include surprisingly light mozzarella saffron fritters and a generous antipasta of meats, cheeses and olives. Pastas, from a mountain of spaghetti and meatballs to ricotta-stuffed spinach cannelloni with sausage, vie with hearty entrees such as halibut topped with a spicy tomato sauce and pork medallions served with string beans. Save room for dessert: Vanilla ice cream topped with a dash of Amaretto and chocolate-covered espresso beans is finished tableside with a steaming shot of espresso.

Fantastic Italian Food in the Mission!!!. I have been missing Italian food in the Mission for awhile, and alas, it's been here all along. I've only been once, but it's fantastic. I had the pasta with eggplant and smoked mozzarella - the mozzarella really was smoky, the pasta was al dente, and the eggplant was tasty. A lovely birbet - a sparkling wine! my first! - was wonderful. My dinner partner had the lamb with ragut over pasta and loved it. Our only complaint would be the excessive wait - it seems they forgot us at one point - but they are all very friendly, which seems to make up for it. The wait staff - plentiful - seem to be happily bustling around indifferent to waiting patrons, but somehow, you don't leave feeling mad. It's a must in the Mission. Did I mention reasonable prices?

Great Food!. I had dinner here on a Saturday night and thought that it was a great, fun place overall. I was a bit disappointed at first because I had made reservations and still ended up having to wait a half hour to be seated, but the wait staff was very apologetic and brought us a complementary appetizer for the inconvenience. Our waitress was really friendly and extrememly knowledgeable about the menu which changes monthly. The food was delicious, I was with a party of 4 and everyone was extrelemy happy with what they had ordered. Dessert was also superb. Just plan on having a drink at the bar before eating because it is a relatively small space and seems to be crowded most of the time.

Great Place for Food, Drinks and Socializing. Went here a couple of years ago and thought okay, fun place, mediocre food. Went back Saturday night and the food came up a few notches. I agree with reviewer sfgal35, the food was incredible (similar to what we had in Southern Italy). We were four and ordered 8 or 9 different things and enjoyed everything we ate. Liked it so much that night that we went back for brunch on Sunday before we headed back home. That too was awesome.

Fun. Fun. And Fabulous!. Last Supper Club is too fun and too fab!

This place is a new favorite for me and my friends. For the past couple of months we have been going for the Happy Hour where they serve great little apps for free and yummy cocktails. But last night seven of us went for dinner and we had one of the best evenings ever. The bar tend was great and the people hanging at the bar were tres fun. We then sat down and had some of the best food ever. We shared everything as that was what was suggested from our waiter. It's really awesome that they were featuring Calabria as we took some Italophiles and they thought that this was some of the best authentic Italian style food they have had in SF since they moved here from NYC.

EXCELLENT!. We've gone to this place a half-a-dozen times over the last year and this restaurant produces some of the best Italian food we have ever had here, in the Bay Area. We have been to the other restaurants owned by the same but find this overall to have it all - delicious food, sophisticated wine list, lively atmosphere, attentive and most importantly knowlegable waiters. Between the five of us, we ordered about 10 different dishes - appetizers, salads, pastas, entrees. The dishes were very original - more like what we found traveling throughout Italy than what we find here in the states. We enjoyed the casual dining, with the dishes being served family style so that we could all share.

What we also appreciated was that they let us sit there for a couple of hours and never made us feel rushed. The place does get very noisy as the Twentysomething "chic" crowd emerges after 9:00.

Horrible Service. I went here for my friends 21st birthday and had the worst experience. Our waitress had a horrible adittude! She walked away from our table 5 times in the middle of us trying to order. She was clearly stereotyping us because we were younger.

I went back once for brunch and the food was nasty. I wont go back.

New Ownership = Never Again Returning. This is my first review on citysearch, and I'm only doing it because I'm furious. The Last Supper Club used to be one of my favorite mission upscale eateries. Then, new owners came in, gutted the menu, raised the prices and had the nerve to try and do it with a smile.

The only redeeming part of the evening was when one of the wait staff admitted that people seemed "less then thrilled" with the food since the restaurant reopened. This was the only enjoyable part of our meal. Chef Boyardee could have done a better job making (frozen, not fresh) pasta then these yokels. An insult!

Divine. Wonderful. Wonderful. Wonderful. There is not much more we can say about this delicious Southern Italian trattoria. The food was native to my country, the staff very helpful and the wines an Italian' s dream. We highly recommend this place for all.
