What People Are Saying About Beretta

The Scene – Renaissance-style decadence, such as gold walls and a stone fountain complete with carved cherubs, are paired with classy touches like thick red curtains, stained glass and flickering candles atop dark wood tables. A long bar backed by a gilt-accented mirror dominates one wall, and friendly servers navigate around tightly placed tables to deliver heaping portions to a hip, young clientele. – – The Food – Expect rich food with an emphasis on Southern Italian. Starters include surprisingly light mozzarella saffron fritters and a generous antipasta of meats,…

Editor's Tips

What to Drink:
You can't go wrong with any of the specialty drinks, but the refreshing Italian gimlet (made with vodka, fresh-squeezed lime juice and basil) goes down especially easy.
Parking:
Finding a spot in this happening area of the Mission is tough work and the restaurant doesn't offer valet, so budget time to prowl the side streets for a parking space.

Review from Veggiething Dictator

by SkyC at Citysearch

Since going vegan more than a decade ago, I have been on the search for the perfect pizza. Many have come close, but nothing has been nearly as delectable as the funghi pizza pie at Beretta. The crust was thin but held up well and was tinged with just the right amount of char from the ovens. The sauce had the perfect spicy sweet thing going on, and the mushrooms were earthy and rich, and the 'cheese' just brought the whole thing together in a euphoric way I could barely handle. Not since my formative years in NJ and NY have I had pizza this good. Bless you, Beretta, bless you.

  • Pros: Best vegan pizza evah!
  • Cons: Can be a tad loud and crowded, but maybe I'm just old :)

P{lace was hip and also cozy

by nicolas09 at Citysearch

Well the place is just an Italian one, and the foods are of course okay. The pizza was kind of unique and it's always served hot. Would recommend it any day.

  • Pros: Food is just too good
  • Cons: Too much population duh

Delfina beware!

by rakeshtondon at Citysearch

If I was to give it stars based on food, I'd give 5 and if it was on the overall experience, I'd give 3 - the service is just horrible. The bartenders are just so backed up that it takes them 20-30 minutes to give you your cocktails while the food may almost be over. The food is great and the pizzas will give Delfina a run for their money. Order whatever pizza you'd like but definitely get the burrata on it even if you pay $4 for it. Totally worth it. I'd say this is a must try, but order your drinks in advance so you're not waiting around while the food may be getting cold.

  • Pros: Excellent pizzas and little plates
  • Cons: Horible service

My Review of Beretta

by jmorneau at Citysearch

This is a great spot for casual, innovative Italian food. It's a festive crowd, and the cocktails are hard to beat. I have only been once but would love to go back.

  • Pros: Good crowd, good cocktails
  • Cons: Gets pretty busy so it's hard to get a table

excellent prosciutto di parma pizza, dog friendly, decent service

by fvokovan at Citysearch

After my friend raving about the pizza, I had to try it for myself.. and let me just say, "heavenly".. My favorite was the prosciutto di parma, but the margherita w/ burrata was also very tasty. I also had the arugula & fennel salad, which I think had a touch of orange juice in the vinegrette, which made it burst in my mouth. And when you go, you MUST TRY the asparagus, egg & olivata appetizer. It's not enough to fill you up of course, but is so delicious!!

I thought it was a little funny too that there was a wait for the bar, but it wasn't that big of a deal and the food was worth any congestion near the entrance, etc.. The waitstaff was very friendly and made a point to say goodnight when we left.. All in all, I highly recommend it. Also, great date spot -

  • Pros: Attractive people, clean, candle-lit, great ambiance, EXCELLENT food
  • Cons: crowded
