Definetly a cool club. I've just moved over from Europe to SF. Been on Wed at Anu. Great Place. Finally one in SF wehere you can listen to really good music. All the other clubs I've visited yet (and that was quite a lot for the short time I'm here) are not good. Its ridicullus what some people in the US call electronic music... The crowd was also good. People seemed even more open minded to mee than in other places in SF. I can not say much about the girls there, cause there werent many. I'll check it out on Sat and rereport. It's definetly worth going if you want to hear real good electronic music from downtempo to minimalistic and experimental. Cant say much about the prices. Compared to the EU everything is cheap in SF. :)
Awesome music scene..
Hey this is a really great scene here. You gotta hand it to the promotors here. THe Wednesday nights are rockin. That is rare in such a small local bar such as Anu. Also there are some really hottie bartenders there.
I like coming to 6th street and getting such a great ambiance when I come into Anu. Club Six is fun too but Anu gives you much more of an intimate vibe. Plus it's predominantly electronic music so you always know what you are in for.Hey this is a really great scene here. You gotta hand it to the promoters here. The Wednesday nights are rockin?. I always get great treatment from the bartenders there too. Probably because I go there a lot and always have chicks with me but, it really does seem like they work hard too and give great service. I write a lot of reviews and know a lot of bartenders. The people that serve me there are good news.
Go see for yourself.
Great place - horrible bartenders!~ - if the bartenders got their act together this place would be highly recommended. In SF we have a ton of choices and a ton of great places. This arogance is unwelcome and everybody I know will be told about my numerous repeats of poor bar service.
I've been ignored for 15+ minutes waiting for a drink, while the bartender chats with their friends. Better yet - how about the bartender overcharging and not giving us the happy hour price? Yes - that's right, be on the look out for this one. How about waiting 15 minutes to get a drink and then missing the happy hour drink price. Well, this has happened more than once. I hope the owner reads this and cleans up the ship.
Com'on get it together, this is great place, great vibe, except for this very big negative.
GREAT place to stop by on a Friday after work. I decided to meet with my girlfriends after work and one of them suggested Anu. She mentioned they had some new DJ's there and they played real great music but diffrerent than the typical San Francisco sound. I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't outrageously packed like they say it is on Wednesdays (I highly dislike crowded bars) and the music WAS awesome. I met one of the DJ's named Jaime James and he said he just got residency there but I have to admit, the guy was CUTE. We talked for a bit while he was DJ'ing but I recall him saying he also DJ's @ 1015 & Paradise Lounge. Even some upcoming things overseas. So, an attractive guy who also DJ's? What else can a girl ask for? Yum! ;) The drinks were great, too and they had some drink specials but I'm still smitten by the DJ. =P
Literally, a diamond in the rough. randomly went to this bar when i heard they play music different than the normal deep house & trance you hear at almost every venue in the city. sure, the area is kinda seedy but the mezzanine is just around the corner and club 6 (a predominantly hip hop joint that i'll probably never go to) is across the street so if you've been to those clubs already, you know what i'm talking about. anywho, went on a friday and even though it didn't fill up til after 8 i heard the new residents just started a few weeks ago. i don't remember the names but i guess you check out anu website for info. to give you an idea of the music it reminded me of my trip to ibiza a couple yrs ago; in other words: GREAT. the bartendress' were pretty attractive and the drinks weren't watered down at all. to top it all off....NO COVER CHARGE! so yeah, i heard wednesdays are packed but me thinks fridays are even better; it's the weekend, payday, good looking people and you have saturday to recover.
If you like talking to some of the sexiest guys in the city while listening to the best music, go here.. As an SF native, Anu is everything I think SF nightlife should aspire to be. Eclective music, attractive crowd (always!), and one of the friendliest staffs around. Scott Carreli's Satellite on wednesday nights has never let me down, ever.
Funky music=u get down tonight.. Was totally surprised by this little joint, pleasantly as well. So I walked in and got a drink and went right back to the dance floor where an unknown was throwing down some wicked beats. I stayed and danced until the lights went on.
A stylish lounge on a seedy street showcasing underground beats and cutting-edge artwork..
This tiny piece of real estate is bathed in a warm palette--burgundy, brown, orange--and boasts great social feng shui: a long, super-soft bench is paired with ottomans and cocktail tables. The lit-up bar is housed under adobe stucco arches, but stained-glass hanging lamps give the hacienda aesthetic an artistic edge. Past the bar, a bullet-chain curtain separates the loungers from the boogiers, who move face-to-face with the DJ on a tiny 10-person dance floor.
Great Place. I only started going to Anu about 6 months ago and it quickly became my favorite places for Wednesday nights. This place has great DJ's and a great atmosphere. The people can be a bit cliquey at times, but overall it has a great vibe. My only complaints about this place is how hot it gets inside (get a fan!) and having to brave a pretty seedy area to get to it.
ultra cool!!. i have been there a few times, and each time it makes me wanna go there more. this SoMa bar is in a dicey area (then so is Mezzanine round the corner?) though, that should not stop anyone to experience it. try to make it on a Fri nite when dj Rooz & dj Rouzbeh (back2basics) are scheduled to be on decks...they spin great house. the crowd is young, drinks are strong, the decor ultra cool - the lighting makes all the difference...as a few people mentioned, this place has a cozy atmosphere w/ comfortable seating, and cool staff. i'll be back.
