My sense is Steffon is the star of Episode Salon and the others are along for the ride. Cindy did a cut and color on my hair. My regular stylist moved out of SF, so I needed to find someone new, and I waited too long. My color was severely faded to a horrible orange-tinged medium brown. Cindy asked if she should just do the roots and keep this horrible streaky mess on my hair. I had to explain several times that the color had faded and was not a color I would want; I wanted something natural looking. She pulled out a color chart of hair swatches to show me again that she could almost match this faded shade and just do the roots. We finally agreed on a fairly boring medium brown to be applied all over. For the cut, I wanted to take approximately two inches off and we did the finger compare. After she cut off about four inches she asked me how I liked the length. D’oh! Steffon watched us like a hawk throughout the entire process. I felt like he didn’t trust Cindy to do a good job, which lessened my confidence in her skills even more. The final hair cut was actually well done, but the styling was terrible. It was as if she went out of her way to make my hair as flat and stringy as possible. I left the salon and pulled it into a ponytail, until someone at the coffee shop pointed out I had a ½ inch brown streak across my forehead. Cindy had dyed my forehead. While my forehead stripe lasted for a few days, my color started to fade on day three. Overall I paid almost $200 for cut, color and deep-conditioning. For that money, I expect a stylist that can provide guidance and recommendations, including custom color and a flattering hair style. They tried so hard but something was definitely lacking.

I've been happily getting my haircut at Episode Salon since 2003. Cindy & Jan gives the best head massages and Steffon is a true professional. This salon is a gem. I highly recommend this place!
Pros: Great attention to detail
Cons: Parking can be difficult on weekends
