Big beautiful rolls and a lovely selection of sake.

In all honesty, this is not a sushi lover's sushi joint: the nigiri and sashimi are not going to make you swoon. BUT! If you want fun rolls, great apps, and good sake, this is your spot. The rolls are creative and jam-packed, totally at home in California. Well worth the visit if your standards aren't through the roof!

If You Know Sushi You Will Like This Place. This is so like izakaya eateries in Japan where you drink & eat a lot but the only diffrance you have an all exclusive menu of sushi. The product served is very fresh and presentation seemed to be highly emphasized. service is remarkable with the servers beinf not only cute but friendly with such a large sake list makes this place the one sushi joint to eat at. Ohh I must say I dont agree with the reviw before mine.. they have no idea & my review was based on 2 visits

Not really a sushi place, awful service. Tsunami advertises itself as a sushi and sake bar, but in reality, it's a sake bar with sushi as an afterthought. The sushi selection is slim, unexciting, and expensive. The servers are unattentive, snobby, and incompetent. We were there on an uncrowded Tuesday night, but from the harried waiters, you would've thought it was Friday and the place was full. We wanted to sit at a table, but despite the fact that several were available, we were sat on the uncofortable, low benches. We didn't get our miso soups until after the sushi, a waitress dropped a roll nearly in my lap, we got the wrong drink, and we had to ask 3 different people before we got our check. Through the whole visit, it was unclear who our waitress actually was, since several different people came over, none of whom really knew what was going on. In short, bad experience for way too much money.

great sushi at my fingertips. recently becoming a sushi lover, i was recommeded to this local neighborhood spot - and wasn't steered wrong. friendly sushi chefs, knowledgeable staff and great food make this one of my favorite spots. a varied menu and daily specials add to the greatness of this hip hot spot

Presentation is everything. Delicious, fresh, and beautifully presented. Prices were reasonable and the atmosphere was wonderful. I have found a new favorite sushi restaurant and I will be going there regularly. Make reservations.

Worth every penny, Service, Sushi & Sake'. We went there after our friends been talking about this place for months... I feel bad we have not gone there before ! Although some reviews noted they were expensive I thought $108 for 2 was simply avearge unless we were planning to eat at WeBe sushi.

The atmosphere is retro with its dim lights and loud music and high energy place. I must say it felt more of a drinking place with food than food with drinking, but thats what made our experince remarkable. The sushi was extremly fresh with extra friendly service. sake' list I belive is the biggest in the city... this place rocks... Ill be back soon

Amazing. If you go you must order the sashimi platter. The fish is really fresh served on a platter that looks like an underwater jungle, except the fish can't swim.

The place is swanky & very hip with an amzing sake' list and excellent service. Music is often times pumping loud but very fun, with very hip stylish dressed staff and equal look from the customers. Oh, also you should order the papasan and hamchi shitake'

It was very good. You always hear about Tsunami and always hear how good it is so we decided upong arriving from LA last week to hit Tsunami as our first night spotfor the days we were here. The food is amazing, the fish is very fresh with remarkable rolls like the papasan which I died for. Even simple one like california roll was extremly fresh and tasty. Sake list has to be the biggest in the US and our guy at the bar was remarkable with his recommendations. All in all this trip was excellent and next time in town we are in Tsunami

Very Unusual. Intresting place, the fish was excellent bith in the sushi department 'nigiri & rolls which seems is what they specilize in. We sat at the sushi bar and the chefs were funny, ecentric and goofy but very fun and good. I cant belive the volume this place makes in terms of sushi. I would like to go again, food was good, service good, atmosphere great. I opted for beer but was told I should have tried their sake' being supposedly the best in the country !

AWFUL SUSHI. This place is admittedly very cute and trendy. When we were first seated I was very hopeful. The sushi is AWFUL though. It's as if they found the fish on the street and served it. At $100+ for 2 people, I do NOT recommend this place to anyone. There are tons of cute sushi places in SF. This place was wretched.
