I heart ROY's!!!. So I am a bit biased because Roy's is MY ALL TIME FAVE RESTAURANT but it is for so many reasons! They always serve up the most delicious food & the service is top notch. I have been going to the SF Roy's every year for my birthday and for any other occasion I can get others to join me there. Must start w/ the pineapple martini-scrumptious! The sushi is always so fresh & yummy! I also loves the Maui Wowie salad with shrimp & avocado. My bf got to the tomato & thai basil soup with gruyere grilled cheese (to die for!). Entrees of pesto & pine nut encrusted sea bass & salmon with pepercorn sauce were both devine. You also haven't lived until you have had their world famous choc souffle ala mode. I heart ROY's!!!
This sophisticated Hawaiian-fusion restaurant gives mainlanders an upscale taste of the islands..
In Short
Roy Yamaguchi opened his first restaurant in 1988 in Honolulu, Hawaii, blending European cooking techniques with locally produced ingredients and Asian spices. Today, his Hawaiian-fusion cuisine is served in a sophisticated atmosphere with dark woods, Asian accents and contemporary, island-inspired art. In addition to "Roy's classics" like Hawaiian-style misoyaki butterfish and the popular melting hot chocolate souffle, each location offers daily specials prepared by the local chef, all of whom are trained personally by Roy.
Go for the Prix Fix. I travel a lot for my job as an advertising executive, and was looking for something different and exciting to eat while in San Francisco. I called up some old college friends and they recommended going to Roy's together. Needless to say, I will definitely come back every time I find myself in San Francisco. As a side note, I was also in Atlanta, Georgia a few months ago, and I happened upon another Roy's. The food and atmosphere there were equally fantastic. Our server was well versed and recommended the perfect wine. A great experience that I recommend to anyone.
Good Hawaiian inspired food.. What I've always enjoyed about any Roy's restaurant is their great service. I've been to the San Francisco restaurant twice, and both times, the service was very fast, efficient, and friendly. The food is also good. I really enjoyed the prix fixe menu and thought that it was a very good value. I had the mahi, mahi, and it turned out really tasty. I really enjoyed the dessert - their signature lava chocolate. I highly recommend the restaurant because you get what you pay for.
