Gross!. Wow, where to begin... well for starters, a friend of mine used to be a regular there and after making it known she had no sexual interest in the owner, was yelled at and humiliated BY the owner for always hanging out there alone, suggesting she had no friends and was a loser. What is this 1950? Women can't drink alone after work? Unfortunately, that was only the beginning. I quickly learned that she is not the first woman to be treated in a very disrespectful manner in this place (I have other female friends who avoid the place like the plague), and that the place is just a sleazy meat market. I decided to give this place a shot a few times and what struck me immediately is how women are treated like "entertainment". If they aren't interested in hooking up with someone or trying to give play to the bartenders or owner, the treatment is hardly courteous. I think this is a great place to hang out if you are obsessed with hooking up, have low self-esteem, or a yuppie from the Marina... oh wait, that pretty much sums it up right there! Weird and gross venue, and I wouldn't touch any person in there with a 10-foot pole... and I'm being polite!

Great martinis. I love this place. I haven't been in so long and I just revisited it last night. When I first moved here I would frequent this place, but since there are so many other places I hardly get a chance to make it back.

The decor is so cute, and dim, and the bartenders are SO nice and attentive. No matter if the bar is slow or if it's packed to the gills...you are getting great service. They also serve food, and from what I have had it was pretty tasty.

Check it out once, and try to get the window seat :)

ok place to hang. I went here for a friends birthday and was surprised. It has a nice look to it and the bar tenders are laidback. It's not that big yet people are able to dance and not feel too crowded.

"Amante" means lover - and there are plenty of those at this cushy bar.. In Short
A wide, curvy, velvet banquette covered in plush throw pillows snakes along this cavernous lounge's long wall, and velvet stools line the elongated bar. Clusters of attractive North Beach denizens settle in for cocktails and the inexpensive small-plate menu. Despite the surroundings, the venue maintains a masculine vibe via the much-loved owners Pat and Wiz, attracting an after-work crowd as much for their famous fish tacos and wood-fired pizzas as for the singles scene.

Great ego booster. Great bartenders and fun crowd to mingle with. I went with a group of girlfriends for a (long overdue) girls night out. After getting a few rounds at Amante we thought we'd try some other bars in the area, but we ended up coming back. Felt like crashing a party.

It's perfect! "I have arrived!". I have finally found my place after living in the city for sometime now. Finally a GREAT bar in north beach! I have been in this place now a half a dozens times now always thinking this time won't be as good as the last, but this place still keeps pumping up the fun. The crowd is friendly and the prices good and the feel is great local/big bar feel. Definately a bar you can come to by yourself and still have a great time meeting people. I didn't find any real heavy nieghborhood or local clicks looking down on people coming into thier scene everyone was very welcoming. That has been nice! . It seems anyone can have a great time in this place! Finally a great place to hang out in NB.

Weird Feel... A strange sleezy feel.

Sure lots of very young girls and guys, but that just it..young.

Concerned about the recent reviewers with 69 tagged to thier names.

Food not bad.

Good service contained to the owners friends.

Awful drinks. This place needs to hire a new bartender. I asked for a french martini and was brought something else and when I asked the waitress to bring the right drink she gave me attitude about how itwas a true french martini. I order this drink all over town and this is the only place that didn't know how to make it. She brought me a second wrong drink, but since she barefly checked up on our table it wasn't worth complaining again. And my friend's kamakazes were tasteless.

flirty,chatty,chillin that's amante!. My recent visit to Amante was very comfortable. Being familiar with North Beach

It was nice to listen to a great mix of music , sippin' on my favorite cocktail, and

chit chattin' with people I know and people I just met.

Wonderful barstaff -you are comfortable at AMANTE!

Liberated. The boys running the Amante show are fabulous. They take well care of their guests and let the ladies run the show whenever they please. Great time had by all.
