Editorial Review for Festoon Salon – by Janet Haney

In Short
This educational salon offers chairs helmed by apprentice, junior and full stylists, with prices varying accordingly. The high ceilings and light wood floors give this corner salon a light and airy ambience. Customers come from all over the Bay Area for a cut, color, styling or treatments such as thermal reconditioning (hair straightening).

Editorial content is independent of paid advertisers. Any expenses are paid for by Citysearch.

Bruno Compin has been cutting my hair at Festoon for 6 years now, ever since I walked in for a $35 apprentice stylist haircut in 5th grade. Though I now pay him a little more, he's NEVER gone wrong with my hair; I don't really ask him for anything specific anymore, because I KNOW that he's going to make an amazing decision and cut my hair however it looks best. I had gotten highlights once in 7th grade from him (a time at which I had become the anti-Britney Spears with my subtle yet really age-appropriate color choice), but I recently asked him to give me a full color. Though my dye-virgin hair came out REALLY light, the color mix Bruno picked looks AMAZING. I've gotten stopped at least a dozen times in the past two weeks by people asking me where I've gotten my hair done. Bruno is amazing! My highest recommendations. My best friend also gets her pixie cuts from Misha, and recommends her as well. She rocks it well.

Pros: Amazing cut and color

Cons: Sometimes hard to book

I walk in feeling like an ugly ducking- I walk out of Festoon, beaming from ear to ear, feeling like I’ve been struck by a fashion pixie. Feeling like I could stop traffic makes me happy. These peeps are hip, friendly and always current with fashion trends. I don’t have to walk in with celebrity photos. With Festoon, I am the celebrity! They cut and colour with me in mind. What more can you ask for?

Pros: Professional, Helpful, Bright Attractive Location

Cons: Stopping Traffic in Downtown during Rush Hour
