SCAM ALERT: Beware of being charged a fortune!. SCAM ALERT:

I just had 5 men's dress shirts dry cleaned at Peninou. Total bill was $139.99.

Yes - $28 per shirt for regular dry cleaning.

I called to say this was ridiculous and asked what the standard fee is to dry clean a shirt. Answer: it varies by customer and no price list was available for customer service to refer to while we were on the phone..

Moral of the story: Stay far, far away... As far as I'm concerned, these people are just a bunch of scammers and I don't want their smell on my clothes!

I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau asking for an apology from Peninou and a written promise stating that Peninou will cease such abusive billing practices.

Bait and Switch - terrible customer service, exorbitant prices. BAIT AND SWITCH!

I called one of their San Francisco locations to get a quote on dry cleaning for a suit. The lady on the phone told me $25 per suit. They even offered to pick up my suits for no charge. I thought, fabulous!

Then, I got the bill... $50 per suit!

I spoke with one of their customer service people over 4 or 5 different conversations, and they said there was nothing they could do - they said that their customer service management said there was "no proof" that I ever got the original $25/suit price quote. They said that the $25 was per piece ($25 for jacket, $25 for pants).

Total liars. And terrible customer service.

I brought in two suits that cost $1000 each, and somehow they think I'm trying to rip THEM off?

I am never ever ever going there ever again.

Hugely disappointing service - be careful giving them your expensive garments. Used them for over 4 years until for about 3 months straight my clothes kept coming back damaged and with holes in them. They had no explaination nor did they offer to compensate me for the damage down to countless expensive shirts, trousers and suits.

Every dry cleaner is friendly until you bring a problem to their attention. How they handle an adverse situation marks how good a dry cleaner really is. Penninou were arrogant, rude and completely indifferent to the fact that they were destroying my clothes. One would figure that a loyal customer of over 4 years would get treated somewhat fairly but they absolutely dont care and have an attitude that seems to state that we have many other customers so who cares if you leave.

Terrible business. I've never been more disappointed with service; poor handling of order; they won't honor their own coupons and the woman managing this shop is the most arrogant person I've ever met in a service industry. Avoid. Plus they lost my shirts.

Expensive cleaner for expensive items. I used the cleaner at both locations in San Francisco on several occasions for my expensive dry cleaning items. I would rate a 92% satisfaction for most of my visit. The customer service was attentive and quick. I have not had a bad experience yet. I'm most impressed at the high quality of dry cleaning. The items look like new. My black items were not shinning or discolored. The white items were not ivory or faded into ivory. They were very good at removing stains (food, makeup, dirt, coffee) and any missing buttons. I would only suggest the cleaner for your expensive items. It would be foolish to use the cleaner for your less expensive items anyway. As a general rule, your dry-cleaning items should be less than 7% of the price paid or sentimental value of item. Do complain in writing, it's always more effective.

French Drycleaners. I have never been so disappointed. They quoted a price range and when I picked up the item it was more than twice what they quoted. There was a great lack of customer service and the woman laughed at me when I left. I will never return, I'm not sure how they have stayed in business this long!!

Avoid for nice linens and clothing. High price, ruined several pieces of expensive items. Customer Service for ruined items extremey poor, basically they said "too bad". Should have explained when items brought in that they could not clean. Would NOT recommend!

consistently and thoroughly unimpressed. peninou has provided consistently poor quality work for a price that is far higher than most cleaners in the city. i won't go back.

Dont use for alterations!. I brought a bridesmaid dress her for alterations. The dress was promised to me for the following sat (5days later) i repeatedly called and was told it's no in the system yet but its promised for sat so it will be there. show up to pick up the dress and of course its not there. No phone call nothing. I still have no answer as to when it will be ready and the wedding is this saturday! Not recomended at all...
