Do Not Eat Here. Wow. What a terrible disappointment. We should have known better when every other restaurant in the area was packed (even the burger joint next door) and there was only one couple in the restaurant. We were tired and hungry and took a chance. Big mistake.

Walked in and went to order. A tall guy in a hat sat there messing with the register for some time - never even acknowledging us. Not like it was busy. When he finally asked us what we wanted, we started to order (he never even made eye contact with us - just a very rude "you're putting me out" demeanor).

We ordered a trio of chicken skewers and a combo of the seafood skewers. When he asked what sides, we weren't aware they came with sides so he huffed when he had to name them off, and then when he asked my husband the same question on his order and had to repeat them he literally spat them out and rolled his eyes. You can bet we didn't put a tip in the tip jar for the service!

After that we went to sit down and guess what - not ONE clean table. Glasses, etc. on tables, none wiped down. He even saw me bussing my own table (basically moved everything from the "cleanest" table to another)and went on with what he was doing. We asked for napkins and water to wipe our table down. We were sitting right next to the register. It was clear we were cleaning our own table but he wasn't a bit fazed.

After a while it was clear he was the manager or in charge as he directed everyone else (delivery guys - must be the only business you get) and barked orders.

Then the food finally came. Took 20 - 25 minutes and I have to say it was terrible. It was clear that it had been precooked and then not only reheated, but actually burned as well. He still never made eye contact and not once asked us if we needed anything, if the food was okay or we needed another beer.

I'm not sure about the exact time we got there, but it was 45 minutes before closing. Just can't remember what time you close. I know this because even though it was freezing cold, when we finally go our food - which took forever - a girl propped both doors open and proceeded to drag the patio furniture in, making the most ungodly noise. Not like we needed any more incentive to leave. We left our (terrible) food and stopped by the hamburger joint next door (delicious).

I checked the closing time on our way out and that's when I realized that we were there 45 minutes before closing, so it's not like we just slipped in at the last minute.

I'm from Dallas, so we obviously won't be going back but I felt obligated to notify others not to waste their money (and it's not like it was cheap fast food) or time with this offensive service of terrible food.

If you like artichokes and grilled skewers then this is the place for you!. This has got to be the best food I have ever had in my life! Great prices too! I live in Sacramento CA and I have never felt like I needed to drive 2 hours just to eat somewhere and Asqew Grill makes me CRAVE their food. Everything is grilled so while it is super tasy ,it is super healthy as well. After eating their food you don't feel bogged down and gross. I highly recomend the artichoke starter. It has a sauce I believe called soy beurre blanc...that is absolutely to die for. The sauce is an absolute explosion of flavors in your mouth. I get the artichoke all to myself along with a skewer platter...and I won't share....thats how good it is:-) I have pretty much had every thing on the menu as far as the skewers go and I have yet to be disappointed. My favorite is the grilled ahi tuna. The best salad in my opinion is the grilled pear, yum, yum!I have only been to the one location on the marina. I wish they would build an Asqew in or near Sacramento...Anyways you must try this place! P.S. the banana split is amazing too!

Different meal every time!. I rarely order the same thing twice here yet it's always good. It does seem a little pricey but it's filling and yummy. It's a shame because I always forget about this place unless I am walking right by it, but it really hits the spot. I've seen the catering truck but I always forget about that too!!

Good food on a stick. A fun little counter-service restaurant with quite a few menu options and good food. I ordered the BBQ chicken, which comes with corn on the cob and onions on the skewer, and garlic mashed potatoes. It was very good, although the mashed potatoes were super-creamy (I like a little more texture) and all my other food sunk into them. I think a salad would have been a better choice. My husband had lamb and Caesar salad, which he enjoyed. We both ordered the half portion (one skewer instead of two) so we would have room for the grilled brownie sundae. Even so, it was too much for the two of us to finish! On our Sunday night visit, service was friendly and efficient, and the place was doing a good business without being too crowded. Overall, thumbs up!

Healthy food. The food was okay.. I got a salad with my entree (lamb skewer) and it was good after we changed it for another one since a long piece of hair was found in my food.. but besides from that situation the food was good and service was friendly.

Ok, but a little overpriced.... They have a decent selection, and the skewers are ok, but could use more flavor. Side dishes are pretty tasty. Their posted menu makes deciding how to order look far more complicated than it actually is. But I have to say, for the portion sizes and informal vibe of the establishment, my bill always comes out far higher than I expected!

A standby when you need something quick.... Asqew is a casual place, with food you won't write home about, but it's good enough to be standby place when you're in the neighborhood and want something homey. Stick to the tender lime-accentuated grilled chicken and corn on the cob. I've tried some of the other options, and they aren't nearly as good. I wish they'd improve the service and look of the place, since it could be much more than a rundown cafe, but I've certainly had worse dining experiences. They have inherent value for those of us on the go.

GREAT Healthy and Delicious Lunch!. My beau and I enjoyed our first lunch together at Asqew. Sentiments aside, we've been back many, many times and have never been disappointed with the food and the service. The mechanic's overalls that the staff wear add to the overall ambience, but their great personalities definitely make it a place to keep coming back to. And the FOOD ~ before Asqew I had no idea that food on a skewer could taste so delicious. They will grill just about anything, and their meat and marinade combinations positively wake up your tastebuds! This place is our standby when we're in the city.

Grilled desserts!. So normally I'm not into the Marina scene, but this restaurant is an escape from the fake. I live closer to the Haight st. Asqew, but prefer the one on Steiner for it's spaciousness and down to earth staff. Last time I was there, the cashier (girl with no lenses in her glasses!) that was helping us was witty and ultra helpful. She was going way beyond her duties, and didn't make us feel a bit awkward after I spilled Berry Quencher all over our table! The food is healthy and fresh, and there are a ton of combinations to put together. Try the grilled brownies.
