Only if you want a MULLET!.
My hair dresser does not have a name, well at least not a business card when I requested one. He's the SHORT guy with spikey BLOND hair (looks like a giant fishball burnt on one side) and pencil thin eyebrows, and he also hygienically SNORTS (loudly) every 5 seconds like a wild hog (crazy nostril reflexes).
The cut was DREADFUL. He had no intention of listening to me, barked at me when I could not recall if it was exactly one or two months ago that I had a cut. He gave me exactly what I did NOT want, short layers in the back, which came half way up from the full length of my hair in the back. Hello, MULLET?!! I have no idea which part of "Noooooo short layers in the back" he didn't get. His skills were TERRIBLE, all he knows was to cut a straight line, d'uh!, and use thinning shears to make snips throughout my hair. When I attempted to explain to him that the bangs were to even and blunt, and gesturing in the most sincere and empathetic way to him how to snip the ends to make it less blunt, he just made an extremely annoyed face said he doesn't understand and used his thinning shears some more. What a MORON. He was also extremely LAZY, instead of a full blowout, he gave me a half-assed blowdry with no comb! NO EFFORT WHATSOEVER!
This man was extremely rude, sometimes paying more attention to what was going on outside and not even looking at my hair when cutting it. He did not say thank you or goodbye when I left, extremely dissatisfied.
I'm sure there are other talented stylists in the salon, which is why I came back this second time around. However, I do not think that the cheap(er) prices are really worth the gamble. Let's just say that I was brought to tears and my boyfriend now has to cough up $100 to have my hair fixed just to bring a smile back on my face.
The owner should really consider firing this guy because he does the whole salon and its other (possibly) TALENTED stylists a huge amount of disservice.
Glam Up is Top Notch!. The Best Salon! I drive from Marin to Japantown to get a style/cut at Glam Up. The quality of the cuts borders on artistic and is far above average. The style looks fabulous when you leave the salon,AND continues to look great as it grows out. The service I have received has always been friendly and professional. Sushi/Sake in Japantown after the visit is a plus, too!
Just go to Supercuts -- for same cut but cheaper. Stylist I had was not very attentive. I brought in a photo of the bangs i wanted and she did not follow instructions. I asked her politely AGAIN if she could cut and style it in the way of the photo after she already cut it. She said I could probably do it myself. (Why would I pay to go to a salon?!) Customer service was not important to her. I can't remember her name. Perhaps the other stylists are better.
