The best sushi in SF. Always fresh and reasonably priced. The staff is friendly without being annoying. The BEST Gyoza anywhere.

Best Sushi in the City, Flat out. I can't believe this place doesn't have a top rating. I have been in SF for 8 years. I have gone to all of the hot spots in the Marina, Pac Heights, Russian Hill, and Nob Hill. I have never had better sushi, especially the sashimi.

It is definitely a little more casual place, but I swear to god this is the best sushi in town. If it were on a busier block, it would be packed every night.

The service is great because it is small and quaint. I don't no who that other person was that wrote a bad review.

They even deliver which is great because sometimes it is tough to get parking. I suggest a cab if you don't live in the neighborhood.

I hope more people write great reviews, and this place gets the credit it deserves.

Tiny, tony sushi spot on Russian Hill.. In Short
This miniature neighborhood sushi bar and restaurant seats about 20 comfortably, mostly at tables for two - which is why its free delivery option is a popular one for local denizens. Those lucky enough to score a seat can enjoy a stylish, brightly lit dining experience with pricey Japanese tidbits from sashimi to fancy rolls to sizzling teppan yaki (hot, cooked plates of fish, steak or seafood) and a wide range of dinner combination specials.

Phenomenal Sushi. There are few words that can come to mind to describe Sushi Rapture, but two do come to mind: Blown Away.

This is by far the best sushi I have ever tried. Being a San Francisco native, I have had my fair share of different sushi spots, and the others cant even compare to this one.

The fish is always fresh. Also his creativity is awe inspiring. He manages to fuse ingredients in a way that the sushi melts on my pallet. One dish that has blown me away is his Tuna Tartar. He has managed to combine a French dish with a Japanese twist and what resulted was a magical taste.

The service is something to envy; I never felt neglected for a moment. All my requests were fulfilled promptly with a pleasant smile. The atmosphere at the restaurant truly epitomizes San Francisco: hip, upbeat, and friendly.

Self-Serve Sushi. My hopes for this neighborhood sushi joint were left floundering like a cold, dead fish.

Apparently, our waitress was sucked into a black hole.

Ever played that game of calculating the distance from your table to the door and if you could get away with not paying your bill because the waitress refused to bring it to you?

It was Sunday night. Four tables were filled. There should have been no excuse for the staff's inattentiveness. Our waitress/astronaut offered no apologies about our missing AND incorrect order. Had she been truely repentant, I MIGHT have reconsidered going back there again.

Whenever I walk/drive by I check to see if anyone is "working" there. All I see are tables of bewildered customers, who are probably trying to make the best of a waitress-less evening.

p.s. the sushi chef went outside to smoke a cigarette AND THEN MADE OUR SUSHI!!!

Great neighborhood spot for fresh sushi!. A weekly drop-in has become habit now, as I've become addicted to the great sushi and value at this friendly neighborhood sushi bar. A small restaurant with a warm atmosphere, Sushi Rapture doesn't offer anything different from the norm, just fresh fish at reasonable prices. Amazing happy hour deals, a beer or sake and choice of several rolls for $5!! Great place worth trying.
