For a laughably cheap take-out lunch in the Financial District, try the daily bento box special from this Japanese hole-in-the-wall eatery.. It may not look like much--especially compared to some of the colorful, sunny, spacious lunch spots that line Kearny Street--but this petite, mostly take-out restaurant attracts FiDi business folk in droves with their simple Japanese combos for little more than a five-spot. Boxes are filled with properly sticky Japanese rice, cabbage salad and your choice of various teriyakis, katsu and the occasional potato croquette, then thrown in a bag with a tray of pre-made California roll pieces and thrust into your hand before you've even gotten the change from your $10 bill. Sure, it's not fresh-from-the-kitchen hot and the sauces used on teriyaki, katsu and unagi are all oddly similar, but your five bucks goes further here than the burger joint down the block, and you won't need to spend that extra hour on the treadmill after work.
Yum.. Great, cheap, super-friendly lunch spot in the Financial District. Delicious katsu, tonkatsu, teriyaki, sliced beef, with good sized bento combination for $4.50-$5.00. Never tried the sushi, but they have a nice selection of pre-made packages. Not much seating; take your lunch over to the BofA building patio.
