I actually went to this spot sober for some pizza and was definitely NOT impressed! The pizza seemed warmed up rather than fresh. The two guys behind the counter seemed like they could care less about being there (which I guess I can't blame them). And the tables were dirty. Since there are only 3 tables in this small spot and no other customers were there I feel it would be a small inconvenience to take a soap rag to the table to wipe off the previous customers mess. If you see me there again it's because I've had a few too many vodka tonics and I need food STAT!
Excellent, huge slices for the bar time munchies.. I must admit that my frequent visits to Mythic have been after nights at Noc Noc or somewhere nearby. However, Mythic's very generous slice is perfect when you are craving something warm, savory, and just plain good at 2 a.m. There's usually a short wait because they take a previously cooked cheese pizza and add the specifics to your order, then reheat your slice. I tell you what: having a slice of that pizza makes the hike back up the hill to the upper Haight so much better.
Best pizza in SF. Living right around the corner from this place, I've probably been here more times than I should have been. Needless to say, it's great for a yummy *big* slize of pizza for a couple bucks. Very vegetarian friendly too, with slices/pies such as "Pesto", "Greco (feta cheese and olives with pesto), "The Haight (tons of veggies). Go there!
only decent slice in the west. coming from nyc, the pizza-by-the-slice in this town is generally inedible. mythic is actually decent (maybe even "good"), which puts it head and shoulders over everything else in SF--it's literally the only place here i would even consider going to for a take-out slice if you transplanted it to nyc (though i certainly wouldn't go out of my way for it, like i might here). maybe they should try their hand at bagels too.
The Best. I love the cheese slices here -- there's no beating them for warm, ooey goodness in the wee hours after a pitcher or two. One fills me right up.
