A beloved spot for fast, tasty, and affordable brunch. The Grove is also great for meetings over coffee & sunny afternoon beers.
It's HIGH FIVE good.
My wife and I visit S.F. from Fresno often and we stop here for brunch everytime. Atmosphere is great, service is friendly and the food makes you moan w/ pleasure.
It can get crowded but if you find a spot to sit it can be a fun cozy stay. Chill at a table, the couth outside if it's warm. Food is promptly brought to you and the people are friendly. Have not a bad experience and doubt I ever will.
The Grove is GREAT.
Oh my gosh! I had to write a review after seeing two other reviews in a row that seem to be bitter and possibly from the same person (similar writing style)!
The Grove is a neat place. period. Seriously, it is a great place to meet a friend, read a book or just veg out. Every single time I have suggested to friends to meet me here, they thank me for introducing them to the Grove! It is fun, funky, eclectic and, best of all, the music is jamming.
The Grove adds neat touches. Every single time I have ordered a latte, they add a leaf design to the froth and, I watch carefully because one day, I will have a machine that will be able to do it too.
Menu: I have my favorites. The hummus dish is fresh and large enough to share with several friends. The three-cheese and tomato pressed sandwich is a total winner. And, I love, love, love Dave's Downfall for breakfast--although, Dave's Downfall has recently changed to Daves Special, which is twice as good. My son is a major fan of the Grove's French toast and freshly squeezed OJ. The OJ is FRESH so, yes, it is warm but oh so good!!!!!
Terrible. Not recommended.
"We have been ordering food from this place for four years. I just got big order from them....and I got to tell everybody STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.
Subway is five star restaurant comparing to grove on Fillmore. When I asked about partial refund due to misleading menu they told me that is YOUR PROBLEM NOT OURS."
waste of time. I wanted to try a new place, and picked this popular spot that I walk by often. I saw many people sitting, eating outside seeming to enjoy themselves. It was nice looking atmosphere. When my food came, it looked delicious, but then I took a sip of my oj. It was warm to my disappointment. I took a bite of my steak quesadilla and it tasted bland. No flavor in the cheese and steak. Just endless amounts of boring food. WTF, do not eat here! If you getting drunk, maybe.
Looks good taste blah. It was a Sunday afternoon, after the rush, but the food came out late and cool, cool eggs, and semi warm steak. Looked good on the plate, but almost cold in my mouth by the time I took a bite. After I started chewing, I had to sigh. There was barley any flavor. I want to say, cardboard with salt and black pepper I added. I tried to pep it up a bit, but it was too late. By the time I got to my hash browns I had to stop. It was like gooey clay. I was disappointed. Needless to say, I do not recommend this place.
Great place to hang around. Whenever I come to San Francisco, I stay in the neighborhood and drop by everytime. Perfect place to relax with friends, have a beer or a coffee and a quick bite.
Creepy little buss boy. Yeah...everything was great except for the disgusting buss boy (creepy little man) who followed me to the bathroom and was waiting for me so he could grab my hand and forcefully pull it down to his exposed...you guessed it...member. So I would highly recommend this place (unless you have a problem with recurring nightmares).
Best place to invest a few hours.
This one beats the Grove location in the marina hands down, or should I say laptops down. The laptop screen lighting is a good 80% dimmer in this one. No really, there a only a couple laptops working at any given time at this one, and this one has a surprisingly warm faux fireplace. On Sundays it's packed and great to people-watch, drink a beer, have a snack or meal, read a book, that sort of thing.
Recommended: Chimay beer or glass of wine, and the cheese plate (usually served on an amazing real tree plate, gotta have one).
Great Place!. I always go to the Grove when I'm craving either Chicken Pot Pie (yUmMy!!!) or Chicken Enchiladas (Oh...so gOod!). I usually go around lunch time during the week because the weekends are pretty busy. Its a good place to go with a small group of friends for some homestyle food. I wouldn't go there for their baked goods and coffee, but I'll definately keep going back for the food.
This place *used* to be great. Since The Grove has become popular, the quality and value has severely decreased. The food is overpriced for such mediocre standards, the internet is NO longer free and the ambience is no more interesting than any other cafe in SF. Not worth time or energy.
