Editorial Review for 17-Mile Drive – by Stephanie Rosenbaum
Overview
Looping around a privately-owned section of the Monterey Peninsula, the 17-Mile Drive offers striking vistas of the Pacific Ocean and the many coves pocketing this rugged stretch of coastline. The drive also includes a close-up view of the famous Pebble Beach golf links.
The Experience
A map included with the vehicle admission price marks the numerous scenic points. Special attractions include Seal Rock, where harbor seals flock to rest and socialize on the low rocks near shore; Shepherd's Knoll, which offers a sweeping view of the bay; and the Lone Cypress, a 200-year-old-native Monterey cypress clinging to a rocky point overlooking the waves.

If you enjoy driving around looking at houses, the ocean, golf courses then this is a must see. The scenery is breath taking. If you have never been to Monterey this is a must!!! If you are a golfer you will want to play here.....but make your reservations early. All of the greens are spectacular. There is not a bad golf course here. The weather can be your enemy in winter, but it is less crowded.
Pros: Scenery, golf
Cons: Only need to do it once

The drive is one of the most scenic possible. From outstanding views of Monterey Bay from the heights, forrested areas, crashing waves, etc.. Bring someone you love and time your drive to arrive at Pescadero Point near sunset. You will be treated to one of the most awesome sights on the continent as the rocks turn golden against the deep blue ocean and ever changing hues of the sky above. One note: Stay off the rocks to avoid ruining the photo op for everyone else.
