The Scene
This white, Moorish-style inn is a landmark in downtown Carmel, both for its history (it was built in 1929) as for its celebrity ownership. Actress and animal activist Doris Day is a part owner and has made the Cypress Inn famous for its pet-friendly policies. Rooms are decorated in pale tones, with king-sized beds, armoires, armchairs and writing tables.
The Details
All rooms are equipped with televisions, phones, private bathrooms, a decanter of sherry and a fruit basket. Some rooms include fireplaces, ocean views and minibars. Continental breakfast is included in the room rate and is served either in the lobby bar or outside in the garden courtyard. The inn boasts a large living-room-style lobby with fireplace, exposed beams, couches and a bar-lounge. A new addition includes 12 deluxe rooms with fireplaces and jetted tubs. The expanded space also features a conference room and bar.
