Jeanty at Jack's

French Soul In The Heart Of San Francisco

  • Private Dining & Banquets
  • World Class Wine List
  • Opulent Atmosphere

Under the masterful hand of Excutive Chef and owner Philippe Jeanty, Jeanty at Jack's has become the stage for some of the best food in The City....Everything Old Is New Again...

For his signature cuisine, Philippe has turned to the classic dishes he grew up with in France: platters of cold shellfish, sole meuniére, grilled rib eye with béarnaise sauce, cassoulet, tart tatin à la mode, crêpe suzette... We like to think of it as "French Soul Food."

Trends come and go, but these dishes have survived the test of time. And for good reason. When prepared with passion, authenticity, and perfection, as they are at Jeanty at Jack's, they provide a soul-satisfying dining experience unlike any other.

Editorial Review for Jeanty at Jack's – by Stephanie Rosenbaum

The Scene
A downtown redux of the San Francisco classic, Jack's, this spinoff of Napa's picture-perfect Bistro Jeanty showcases Chef Phillipe Jeanty's well-executed French cuisine. With a small bar and mirrors above the banquettes, the small ground-floor dining area is the most bistro-like. A mezzanine and second floor are more intimate, and the third floor is more expansive, with elegant high ceilings.

The Food
Chef Jeanty's signature tomato soup, a luscious, smoothly tomato-vibrant puree topped with a golden dome of puff pastry is an excellent starter. Escargots are also superb, succulent and properly drenched in garlicky butter. Other solid, delicious dishes that you don't have to think about too much, include lusciously rich coq au vin; delicate, caper-dotted sole meuniere; and succulent, tender steak with bearnaise sauce with a side of shallot-sauteed haricots verts.

I have always had excellent food and service here. It really reminds me of Paris. There is something very authentic about it. I like being seated in the mezzanine (for a bit more privacy).

The tomato soup here is really excellent and very different in the way it comes out. The fries here are on the salty side so beware. The atmosphere is OK. Definitely a business dining crowd.
