Prices Up. Quality Down. But Still May Be The Best Thai in SF.
by bigjohnsf at Citysearch
Probably the best Thai restaurant I have ever experienced.
Their Khuay Teow Khack is unlike any I have had anywhere else.
As with so many other restaurants in San Francisco, their prices have gone up 25% (two increases) in the last 18 months. This, in itself, would not bother me, their prices are still competitive, if no longer a bargain, but I don't know why it always has to be a rule that when a restaurant increases their prices there is an inevitable slip in quality. It's as if an, in this case new, restaurant sees some relationship between raising prices and feeling they no longer need to try as hard. You'd think it would be the opposite.
Still I can't think of a better Thai restaurant.
Great thai food in the lower haight

I've been there probably a dozen times in the last year, but I always get the same thing: Vegetable Praram. One of these days I'm going to venture out and try something new. My meat eating family/friends all like the meat dishes as well. The staff is really friendly too!
What a gem of a place.

I've been living in a hole - neglecting this place in my own 'hood, because it's juuust a little too far down Haight. No more. The dishes at the place pop off the plate with bright, fresh ingredients and good heat if you ask for it. The portions are very large and the prices are extremely reasonable.
There is a more expensive, much ballyhooed Thai place not far away which certainly has a longer more complex menu. However, of the shared dishes I'd venture to say that Chilli Cha Cha pulls them off better and more consistently.
Friendly people, and as mentioned VERY fast delivery has made this my new favorite in the lower Haight.
- Pros: excellent food, even better prices, fast delivery
Amazing Thai Food

The staff is incredibly friendly, the service is wonderful, the music is sophisticated, but it's the food, oh the food, that is the star of this show.
I've probably eaten there 50 times in the last year. Every one of their curries is sublime. Their appetizers are wonderful - check out their Mun Tod and their fish cakes. Their satay is yummy, too.
The Som Tum (green papaya salad) is crunchy and spicy, but they'll make any dish to whatever level of heat you like. I personally like things "Thai Hot" - the flavors are not overwhelmed by the heat, so no matter what heat you like, it tastes really good.
- Pros: delicious, inexpensive, haight and fillmore
- Cons: haight and fillmore, music a bit too loud
