Felix Da Housecat Editorial Review
The Skinny
Expect Felix da Housecat, long a house legend, to pull '80s electro tracks from his DJ sack and some selections off his 2002 album entitled "Kittenz and Thee Glitz" (Emperor Norton) at dance clubs nationwide. On "Kittenz," Felix and a group of collaborators called "Thee Glitz," Miss Kittin, Dave the Hustler, Junior Sanchez and Tommie Sunshine distill the Euro-cosmopolitan essence of the '80s into pared-down, futuristic electro for today's clubs. Moogs, ennui-drenched female vocals and energetic rhythms characterize every dance-floor-shredding track. Felix Stallings got his start at the age of 15 and released his vinyl debut "Phantasy Girl" in 1987. In the '90s, Felix da Housecat released dozens of records under names such as Thee Maddkatt Courtship, Aphrohead, Sharkimaxx on labels including Touche, Guerilla, Reload and Sex Trax as well as his own imprints, Radikal Fear and Clashbackk. A big name in Europe, he's done remixes for Diana Ross, Kylie Minogue and the Pet Shop Boys.
