What People Are Saying About Market Street Grill

The gritty view of Market Street clashes with the worn refinement at this restaurant inside the Hotel Whitcomb. After walking past an elaborate chandelier and a huge bar under stained glass skylights, patrons are seated in equestrian-themed tapestry chairs surrounded by other British-countryside decorative touches. Servers are quietly efficient and professional. Simple cuisine with upscale options like truffled French fries, pasta dishes with seasonal produce, or the crab cakes with mizuna and hosui pear is served to tourists and to the after-show crowds from the nearby Orpheum Theater, Opera…

Location, location, location!

We stay at the Hotel Whitcomb every year during the parade. When we stay, we make it a point to eat at the Market Street Grill, conveniently located inside the hotel. Words cannot describe the experience. The hotel itself it awesome but the food in the Market Street Grill is to die for! During our last visit, our server Wai, made us feel like we were the only two people in the restaurant. The service is outstanding and the food is phenomenal. I ordered a New York steak that was pure heaven. The Grey Goose wasn't bad either! I highly recommend stopping by, having a drink, people watch and make sure you treat yourself to something very special at the Market Street Grill!

My favorite place to go to destress

by lmcotton

The Market Street Grill in San Francisco, is the place I affectionately call the "table cloth place". A bunch of us from work started going there (11 years ago) for lunch when we were having a stressful day. We would call one another and stay " l need the table cloth place, today". When we heard that phrase we new someone was having a bad day. The staff, most of them still there from those days is like family to me now. When I go for lunch, I am treated like someone special and with lots of love. The food is excellent and the ambiance is so cozy. You must go on a cold day and get a seat by the fireplace and feel the warmth and cozienes while you enjoy your meal.

In addition, the restaurant is a great place to book an event. I speak from first hand knowledge. Not only do they assign a coordinator to work with you but they go out of their way to accommdate you. The have a great dinning area for sit down dinning, great stage for entertainment, and an excellent bunch of servers. The chef can replacate any receipe you give him. We had a soul food luncheon for our Black History Celebration a few months ago. Although soul food is not on the menu, Adam and his staff prepared the dishes for 370 people with the greatest of ease.

I recommend the Market Street Grill to all my colleages and friends for lunch, dinner or a specail event.

Warm ambience complementing excellent food

by vansrv

This was our first time to dine at the restaurant and it preceded a concert performance near the Civic Center. We were greeted in a timely and very cordial manner by Luiz, our server. His recommendations were excellent and, despite the pressure for meeting the start of the performance, Luiz delivered the meal with such excellent coordination that we felt pampered rather than hurried. From the moment that the ahi tuna tartare appetizer arrived at the table to last morsel of the artisan cheese plate, the service and food was most excellent. Care was given to both presentation and taste. I seldom want to plan the next occasion at a restaurant while still dining, but Market Street Grill inspired that wish. Having dined here again, I can say that my first impression was an accurate and lasting one.
