Casual Marina destination offering dressed-up American dishes with a boisterous bar scene.. The Scene
The interior is a study in brown, with simple wood furnishings, long banquette seating, and dim lighting. The bar's raucous music and crowd of businessmen and blondes occasionally spill over into the restaurant for a simple dinner. Service is professional and prompt.

The Food
The menu features an array of American bistro favorites with bold flavors. The fire-baked pizza has a pleasing tomato-sauce base and a balanced amount of toppings. Spinach salad and overcooked mac and cheese are both heavily laden with cheese, and prawns are dominated by their pancetta wrap. Very satisfying New York steak has a brandy-peppercorn sauce mounted with truffle butter and a side of mashed potatoes with horseradish. Regulars return for the buttermilk-battered fried chicken; the pork chop is flavorful, but tastes better without the apple pie-like compote. House-made desserts include soft baked-to-order chocolate-chip cookies and a rich milk shake infused with malted vanilla.

Great Food and Service. This is not just a bar! The food and service is really very good. The chicken and salmon dishes are superb! The fresh warm bread they serve is also great. It is true that this restaurant is half a bar and half a restaurant, so if you're there on a busy Friday or Saturday night, it's going to be noisy. Be warned however that they will close the restaurant early if it's "too slow", and just keep the bar open. This happened to us one night at around 9:30 when their posted closing is 11PM. Overall, worth a visit.

Good food and good eats!. Ive enjoyed myself everytime Ive gone into Cozmos. The bartenders always remember me and what I like to drink, and there's always good looking women in there. Ever since Eric Hoppfinger became their new executive chef the food at Cozmos is fantastic. I especially like thier pan seared free range chicken breast. Soooo Good. It does get a little loud however, but I think that adds to the excitement of dining there. If your looking for intimacy there are better places, If your looking for a fun time and meeting fun people Cozmos does the trick.

bad, bad, bad!. If you are 40+, desperate, and lacking any social skills-then this is the place for you. It is not a restaurant!! The food is sub-standard, the service inconsistant, and the adolescent minded cougars that prowl the bar are extremely annoying. In a city that prides itself with sophistication and cullinary innovation, I am amazed to see that cozmos is still in business. Don't waste your time on this dump!

NOT SO GOOD FOOD AND LOUD!!!!. Unless your idea of a good time is loud, stay away. This place has been called a meat market by people I know (wish I had checked before I went here). If you aren't there for the bar scene dine elsewhere (such as the original Cosmopolitan Cafe in Rincon). I was eating alone and was seated in what must have been a forgotten corner of the restaurant. I ordered the fried chicken (mistake). The batter fell off implying that it had been previously frozen before being cooked (that and the off taste). My salad was o.k. and my dessert (the cookies) could have been baked a couple of days beforehand and zapped in the microwave for a few seconds (no way they were just baked).

Disappointed. Went to their Sunday brunch & was very disappointed. We had the calamari (didn't like the sauce) and chicken wings (can get better ones at TGI Friday's). And my mango salad had only one slice of mango. The bar scene may be happening, but I wouldn't recommend eating there.

Hot spot. I recently had the chance to go to cozmos for the first time and I was amazed. I sat at the bar with my friend and we had some appetizers that were absolutely phenomenal. The bartenders were very friendly and as we finished our food the place really started to come to life. We were soon surrounded by a small group of attractive women and the mingling began. The crowd was fun and seemed fairly relaxed. It was refreshing to hear some music that was not the usual mind-numbing house blend that seems to be playing in a constant loop at just about every other bar in the city. My friend and I both agreed that this is where we have had the most fun out in SF in a quite a while.

Cosmetics!. Skip Th/Fri/Sat nights, and go here for good food and good drinks on a non-busy night. This way you can avoid that scummy marina-esque crowd of post-college-greek (as someone described) people who really need to stop frontin' and get a life! But hey, what's a place like this without that crowd! We like going here to calibrate ourselves for the night, that way we know places from there on can only be better!

Classic Marina. I've been to this place a few times and every time the place is packed with a fun crowd. The drinks are well made and not too expensive. Last time I came early on a Saturday and had one of the best dinners that I have had in a while. EAT THE GNOCCHI OR CALAMARI! This place is quickly becoming my favorite spot in the Marina.

Kills the night. I suppose if you are into the post-greek crowd that looks down on others and pretends to have money they don't have, you might enjoy this place. We affectionately refer to it as the bar that kills the atmosphere for the night when we go out.
