Editorial Review for Rainforest Cafe – by Chris Barsanti
In Short
While waiting for a table, hungry diners prowl the retail village, where cash-register ka-chings compete with chirping birds, roaring lions and chest-thumping gorillas. When the lights start to flicker, never fear--thunderstorms are part of the show. The menu is American comfort food--pastas, burgers, pizzas and salads--served with a tropical flair. There are plenty options that the kids will recognize, but enough novelty to keep the parents happy.

Please do not go this hole in the wall. It is absolutely garbage. The food is horrible and service is bad. All this place seems to do is salty frozen Costco with ranch dressing. Just like every other wharf restaurant add some ranch to make it delicious to tourists.
Pros: there is only one location in SF, at the wharf, earthquake will destroy these people
Cons: food, service, value

This is a fun place to take guests or a big group. The larger-than-life foliage, aquarium tanks, moving jungle animals, and periodic lightning shows are fun and make the meal memorable. The menu is HUGE with tons of options, most pretty tasty but not unbelievably great. There is also an extensive drinks menu. Because there is so much seating and big tables, this is a great place to go with a bunch of people, or even with a bunch of rowdy kids (it's already loud in there). The location on Pier 39 means a lot of fun touristy things are within walking distance.
Pros: ambience, good for families/big groups
Cons: average food, sometimes a long wait
