2 events with jonathan...

a dinner party...wish i could show you the photos...they radiate...they are so good, i changed my background on my laptop immediately to one of them ;-)))).

and he sent them the next morning!

and an evening social relating event

his energy was so smooth, i could see him, but could only feel him ease by me, enabling me to focus on the night. i felt i had experienced the evening much more fully after looking at his pictures. i felt i was involved in other people's conversations, feeling what they felt, getting to know them better because i saw their split second emotions. i WANTED to get to know people better because of what he showed me through his lens. amazing.

he sent the photos the next day, in a beautiful, timed slideshow with perfect music choices.

Photography as Art. Last fall I was at a Chamber of Commerce event making the rounds of all the tables when I came across a table with elegant wedding albums on it but no one manning it. I picked up these beautiful books and became mesmerized by the feel and quality of the exquisite photographs. There were closeups of a bouquet of flowers dangling from the back of a chair, a beautiful golden retriever wearing a flower crown, (obviously an honored member of the wedding party) and so many other details that in total make up for a unique and memorable day. I was so impressed with the artistic quality of the pictures and I saw the day through the eyes of an artist. Jonathon captured the beauty in each detail and laughing face the way only an artist can.

I asked Jonathon to do my executive portait for me and on the assigned day we wandered around his neighborhood and took pictures here and there. Anywhere that looked interesting. I had so much fun feeling like a model for a day and he e-mailed me the pictures the very next day!

He was funny and easy to work with and not only takes extraordinary photographs, but puts them together in an album in a way I have never seen done before. His albums are magical and I can only give him the highest recommendation.

Good choice gone sour. At first I loved working with Jonathan. Being a photographer I could see his artistic side. He was great at the wedding (October 1) and promptly got us in a month later to look at the pictures and set up our wedding album. Now here it is in October 2006, exactly a year after my wedding and we have no book and no response to asking where our books are. I emailed Jonathan in February of this year and did not recieve a response for a month. When the response came it was to let me know that I would need to give half of the money for our engagement book and wedding book and after that it would be 6-10 weeks. I emailed Jonathan again in August and he said he was busy and would let me know when the books would be ready, but that he got the prints and it would take 2-3 weeks for the binding. I emailed him AGAIN a week before our one year, October 1, and have yet to hear from him at all. Frankly I am so sad. Friends of mine got married in June and there photographer has already given them there book. I expect a large compensation, especially since he said that he would charge us if we choose not to get the engagement book cause he had already worked on it. So here it is past my one year and no wedding album. Jonathan has completley dissappointed me.

One of lifes' few guarantee. Jonathan shot the photos for my wedding last summer. We found Checkerbox via the Internet since my husband was living in New York and I was living in France 6 months prior to our wedding in San Francisco. Long story short we were driven to Jonathan because of his beautiful website and responsiveness. My husband and I are delighted with the quality and craftsmanship Checkerbox embodies. In this day and age where very few things are a guarantee, and even rarely can you get custom goods, Im happy to share that not only did our wedding pictures come out beautifully but Jonathan really knows the meaning of custom. He listened and advised from day one and his photographs reflect it.

Checkerbox offers service that is that of the past, service with accountability and personal attention. When faced with many wedding time decisions there couldnt have been a better choice.

The right photographer makes all the difference!. Jonathan photographed our wedding in the summer of 2005 and we were simply blown away by the quality of the work he did for us. What wonderful photographs! The day that went by in a flash is all there. And the DVD slideshow he made for us is so fun, my teenage nieces ask to see it every time they visit. But it wasnt just the pictures -- Jonathan was great on my wedding day: unobtrusive, reassuring, and really fun to work with.

storytelling through pictures. Jonathan Mandel's photography is beautiful and really does tell stories! After seeing some of his amazing wedding photography, we hired him to do some family portraits... and we got much more than we had hoped for. He showed us how several of the photos could be sequenced artistically to tell a story. We framed them to display as a group in our living room & we get tons of compliments on them. Highly recommended!
