A great find!. I recommend that you try Dashi for gourmet sushi at a surprisingly affordable price. The food is good, but the various types of sushi rolls themselves look stunning and are served on beautiful dishes. Their ingredients are always fresh. At some places, the fish smells like it's been in the fridge for a week (some restaurants use frozen fish). Never at Dashi. Try their Dragon roll, my personal favorite, and a salad. However, the other rolls on their menu are very good and are worth a try. Workers are friendly and courteous and the place is clean and cozy. You will be glad to have found this gem, which is easy to do. Take the Willow exit off 101 and go straight down Willow Road until you see Jack in the Box on your left. Dashi is right behind it.

Surprisingly Good Food in a Small Place. Never imagine a small restaurant like Dashi will have such high graded fish and trendy menu provided. The fish is very fresh and in grade A category. Interesting and innovative menu items such as Fire Cracker (Salmon Egg Roll). Great service. Price is decent for the quality. Definitely worth a visit.

Great Standards at Reasonable Prices. Dashi is one of those neighborhood sushi bars tucked into an out-of-the-way (for all but Sun Microsystems employees) strip mall at the crossroads of some major highways. The ambiance inside (warm) does not quite match that of the ambiance outside (a fast food/gas station melange). That being said, the food is quite tasty. The fish is always fresh and the waiters are attentive. Standards like maguro, saki, and hamachi nigiri stand out, as well as some innovative rolls (the Dashi house roll is a must), but try some of their more traditional foods too, like steamed salmon in a dashi bonito-infused broth with ground pepper, onions, and mushrooms. Little free extras (like sashimi salad) occasionally pop up if you show up for dinner.
